Menu Planning Apps
« on: August 30, 2013, 04:42:32 am »
I know I'm asking what others have asked before but here goes....

I read a lot of recipes....I mean, A LOT!  When I come across one I like I promise myself I'll make it, realise I don't have one or two ingredients, put it aside for 'another day' and cook one of my regulars. I know if I menu plan I can change this because the ingredients will be on my shopping list.

So I was wondering....are there any good iPad apps which will help a novice like me get started?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't use an app, I use a menu plan I created myself. If you are interested I can send it to you.

I use pepperplate, it is a bit of an effort to get all your recipes in, but once you do it is so easy to make a meal plan and a few clicks and you have a shopping list.  From some forums it adds recipes automatically, unfortunately not this one.  I added our fave recipes and now as I menu plan I add any new/not yet added recipes.  I always make a recipe first though, so I am not going to the effort of adding something I won't be making again.

I made a chalkboard for home, and use that for menu planning, (Old fashioned, but it works)
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

I was thinking of going old fashioned myself too but I'd still need to remember to add that odd ingredient or two to my shopping list!  I downloaded Pepperplate but haven't really looked at it so will give it a browse tonight.

Cookie, if its not too much trouble would you please be able to send me through your menu plan? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks for your responses. I'm determined to make the effort to menu plan so that I'm a bit more organised. I think it'll help a lot to have just my needed ingredients on a shopping list while trying to entertain a two and four year old on a trip around Aldi!

Brumington I have sent my menu planner to you.  As I have to send it as an attachement I have sent it to your email that you have registered with the forum.
Let me know if you get it/or don't get it. :D

Thank you Cookie. I received it and have replied back to the email. I hope you get my email back. Thank you very much for sharing. I love the simplicity of it and certainly makes menu planning a little less daunting than I'd originally bargained for. Very much appreciated.

Oh that's ok Brumington. We use it all the time. Husband also has the app on his phone. I can be home meal planning, creating a shopping list while he is in the car or in the aisle. We love it.
