Home Tandoor Oven - a luxury but looks great
« on: February 18, 2013, 10:21:36 pm »
Hi, I'm just resurfacing after a very busy work period and I've been given an unexpected bonus by work, I'm thinking of purchasing one of these. I can't find a lot of reviews on them and I've got a lot of questions to ask the distributor, but thought some of you may have heard of them or know of someone who has one.

Looks interesting. Saw a uTube once of an Indian lady cooking satays and wondered what it was. I love cooking with a fire, and being able to cook outside especially during summer and think its great to enjoy authentic tasting food.

I adore food cooked in a tandoor. I would prefer one of these to an outdoor pizza oven.
You need one Wonder and you can test it out for us.  :) :)

I have not seen one of these but I like the idea. I always think if you receive a bonus then you should buy something that is a luxury - not something that you can get anytime.  Nice to look back and have something to show for your hard work.  Yes please - go for it and then let us all know so that we can add it to our list of must haves - ie Pizza Makers, Pie Makers, Ice Cream Makers, Vacuum Sealers............. oh I love it!!

I thought there would be a few people on here that would be interested  ;D

I saw the company at the Good Food and Wine show in Melbourne a few years ago and had kept it in the back of my mind ever since, when we were having dinner at our local Indian last week and my son was devouring piece after piece of Naan I remembered it again. I haven't spoken to the distributors yet but will sometime this week. We have a portable wood pizza oven that I've never been completed happy with because it doesn't retain the heat very well so it's great for cooking pizzas while you keep the fire hot but I've had no success with anything else. This tandoor also has a pizza cooking tray attachment so if that works I would put the actual pizza oven on ebay and hope I can get something for it - expensive lesson learnt.

My main questions are:
- how hot does it get?
- how long does it retain heat for?
- are the pizza's difficult to get on and off the tray holder?
- how long does the clay insert last?
- have they had any issues with the clay insert cracking?

Can anyone think of others?
