Cookie I was sorry to read about your foot, rest up and take it easy.
I know you will hate not being in the kitchen.

Chookie good luck for the weekend at Cherokee, hopefully there will be a buyer soon.

Beautiful looking cakes Cookie.

It is delicious.  We only got 4 serves from it the other night when DH made it.

I agree Chookie it would make a great pie filling.  I plan to do that soon, I think I'll thicken the sauce a bit, as ours was a bit too runny for a pie.

Richard did a great job with dinner, the beef and stout was lovely. Richard said it was easy to make using the recipe on the chip.

The soda bread was great too. He used the recipe in the UK book, but he didn't use the TMX to make it (he just mixed it up in a bowl).

Yesterday I baked a loaf of bread and in my pressure cooker, I made pea & ham soup with the leftover ham bone I'd frozen at Christmas.  It was delicious.  I took some of the soup over to Mum today.

Today I have lamb meatballs with a curry sauce (loosely based on Skinnymixers bhuna gosht) in the slowcooker.  I've also steamed some rice and green beans.  This will be tomorrow night's dinner.  Tonight DH is cooking beef & stout and soda bread, both from the UK cookbook.  I was reading the book a couple of days ago and he asked to have a look. He decided on both recipes himself.

Judy's Thick Broccoli & Cheese Soup is delicious (recipe here on the forum).  Both my DH and I love it.

Judy did a great job today with her demo.  She has been busy for weeks planning and testing recipes.

All the ladies loved the food and they couldn't believe Judy had made everything herself.  Many asked if Judy was going to give them the recipes.  I know Judy is going to provide the pea and mint soup recipe (converted back to traditional cooking methods) for their next newsletter.

It was fun and enjoyed talking to all the ladies.  They were all so lovely and polite.  The biscuits to take home were also very much appreciated by all the ladies.

And Judy had bought me some tickets in their raffle and I won a prize!  Four little pots of Beerenberg jam  ;D

Have you seen CC's competition to win a copy of the book Boo?
A good way to potentially get your hands on the much sort after book.

CC you are extremely generous and kind - to buy two copies of the much sort after UK cookbook with your own funds and then to pay to post them to the winners wherever they may live.

I'm sure the competition will be hugely popular as the book is certainly hard to get if you live in Australia.  Thank you Denise for being so lovely  :)

I made these today, as we had a painter here painting our new bathroom and laundry.  He has a lot of work on at the moment, so to fit in our job he had to start on a Sunday.  Richard kindly told him I'd make him lunch!  Not knowing what he liked I made these pasties - as who doesn't like pasties!  I also made a Thai chicken curry for our dinner tomorrow night, so I had that as a back up plan in case he preferred that (but he was more than happy with the pasties  :)). The painting isn't finished and he'll be back again on Friday.

I did use lard in the pastry, as I have a huge lump of it in the fridge.  I know it's not particularly good for you, but it makes the pastry taste delicious.  The pastry was very easy to work with.  I used skirt steak, but I didn't use swede as last time I made Cornish pasties I thought the swede was overpowering.  I used pumpkin instead, so they were no longer traditional Cornish pasties.  I made 6 decent sized pasties.  The were delicious and we all enjoyed them.  I dropped one over to my Mum this afternoon. I'll definitely make them again.

No Cookie, I didn't really knock it down.
I tipped it out of the bowl and shaped it, I lost some of the volume but I didn't knock it completely down.
