Chit Chat / Re: Nut allergies
« on: January 25, 2014, 11:06:06 am »
Hi there, I haven't posted on here for a long time but this is something I have experienced.  My son was anaphylactic to all nuts and shellfish and mildly allergic to egg.  This year at 12 yrs old he has outgrown shellfish and tree nuts but not peanuts.  There is nothing you can do to make it happen.  We avoided these foods and only found out through allergy testing by a dr (allergist) they had gone.  Dr has told his to keep tree nuts and shellfish in his diet weekly to keep the allergy away.

Help I've just made a risotto and completely vagued out and put the too little liquid in, I didn't realise until the end so its really dry.  Is there any way to rescue it?

Hiya

Im making bread right now (foccacia)  I'm up to the resting stage, I've put in in a thermoserver by the window that gets lots of sun, should i put the lid on it?  There is plenty of room to rise with the lid on, I'm just not sure.

Thanks!

Recipe Requests / Hidden veggie pizza sauce
« on: July 18, 2012, 08:48:57 am »
I would really love to hide some veggies in some pizza sauce, has anyone done this?  I had a go at winging it and burnt the bottom of the bowl eekkk!  I was thinking of carrots and red caps so not to change the colour too much.  I tried to search this forum to no avail, would anyone have a recipe please?

TIA!

I totally just stuffed this up, I didn't remove the apple and I didn't cook the apple on reverse so it's stewed apple risotto but it still tastes really nice lol!

DJ I am starting to do this for DS. He is nearly 8 and getting a little flabby. I don't want him to become obese. So far I have subbed grapeseed oil for butter in his favorite chocolate cake. He used to take 2 sweet things to school but I am now limiting it to one. He can take a cheese pop, and lots of fruit and carrots. Plus his snadwich. He is uncoordinated so doesn't like sports, so we will be trying to go for a walk every afternoon before his homework. I am hoping that will help him concentrate on his homework too.

I have this issue with my DS, he has a sweet tooth and is very picky.  Most advice I've found says children don't need to lose excess weight but rather maintain weight and grow into it.  I'm hoping for us now that I'm making most of our food and I can reduce sugar/ butter this will help.

Hi BFG, I am a very new thermomix owner and my son has a nut allergy.  Personally I would find it a risk to eat out of someone else's tmx.  I'm having another demo soon and I won't have anything with nuts made in my machine even though ds won't be there.  Only the littlest bit needs to be left behind for life threatening consequences! Maybe you could have a demo and have everyone else taste it or if you decide to purchase have a delivery demo with your tmx?

I've only had mine a week and I love it!!  It is so quick and easy to make stuff.  The other night I had the tmx making yoghurt and my kitchen aid mixing a lemon loaf.  It really made me see how much mess i make with the kitchen aid with all the measuring and weighing which needed to be washed up where as the tmx you weigh in the bowl.  It makes a big difference when you bake a lot!

I am using mine a few times everyday and even my husband who thought I was wasting my money is impressed!

We got rugged up and headed down to the beach with the kids, was lots of fun! I have spent the afternoon ignoring my washing pile to fold and snuggled under blankets and watched George of the jungle with the kids.  They love that movie lots of giggles :)
