Title: Re sauce bottles
Post by: pinkscrapbooker on October 30, 2010, 10:22:00 pm
Not sure if i have posted in the right spot her, but just wondering if anyone knows of a good place to buy sauce bottles in southern Tasmania. I am planning some nice sauces for Christmas gifts, and hoping to buy some good looking matching bottles to put them in. We don't eat much sauce here (except tomato in plastic bottles), so don't have many empties!
thanks
Tammy

Hi Tammy,

I found some lovely Fowlers Vacola sauce bottles on ebay (brand new) that I absolutely love. I've just checked, and if you search 'Fowlers Vacola sauce' on ebay there's some there now from the same seller I used (only 1 match comes up).  They're not exactly cheap, but can be reused over and over so they've been a good investment for me.
Hope this might be what you're looking for  ;D

I generally just go into op shops and ask if they have any sauce bottles (or jam jars etc).  Op shops always seem to have plenty out the back and I generally just sort through them and get charged around $2 for a big box.  I don't think many people want them anymore.  I now have nice matching sets for sauce, relish, sweet chilli sauce, jam etc.

P.S - I live in North-West Tassie, but I'm sure it would be the same in the South.

Thanks for those ideas, I have loads of fowlers bottles, but joint ownership with my mum means I can't gift them away easily! Will try the local salvos

A friend has just recently put me onto this place
http://www.plasdene.com.au/
They have an office in Hobart and she says they are much cheaper than buying in stores, although you probably need to buy a minimum amount. But, hey, they won't go off will they!?
I am off to their Adelaide showroom today to check out some bottles and jars in preparation for making Xmas gifts.

$100 min from them so not too bad. But theor customer service is shocking. I couldn't actually get my order delivered >:(

The Adelaide store has a $50 minimum order and I went down to the shop where they were very helpful.
I guess it is just the luck of the draw! ;)

:o Wow! Thanks for the great site! I'd heard of Plasdene, but hadn't thought of getting my bottles there for my skincare business. I've sent off an enquiry. They've got some gorgeous bottles there that I've been trying to get hold of for ages!
