Title: Bread Proving Basket
Post by: Cuilidh on August 05, 2016, 03:27:50 am
I just bought DH one of those round bread proving baskets (looks identical to a Banneton basket, but its from a company called Davis and Waddell, don’t know if that makes any difference – I can tell you that it was bl###y expensive regardless) for baking bread in.  Am I correct in assuming that these baskets can be put in the oven (with or without pre-soaking)?

Glad you worked that out BEFORE you put it in the oven Marina LOL.

See you've already got your answer, but it's a definite no, they are for shaping the dough only

I still can't figure out why I was convinced that they went into the oven!  It was not a 'senior moment', it was a 'crazy woman moment'!

I wish they did. I sometimes have trouble turning the bread out.
