Title: Recipe Review - Chocolate Panna Cotta - 53 Shades of Chocolate Ebook p110
Post by: Tasty on October 10, 2013, 09:04:06 am
I love this! So silky and smooth and only my first attempt at making Panna Cotta and using gelatine!

It's so, so easy to make too. Made in ~5mins and just need to wait 3-4 hours for it to set in fridge.

I used regular milk, instead of unhomogenised, vanilla extract instead of essence, thickened cream instead of pure cream (as that's what WW online gave me instead of what I ordered) but essentially all the same stuff.

I couldn't work out how to get it out of the mould without ruining it but I remembered that JD wrote somewhere to use hot water  on back on mould and it worked (you just have to wait a minute or two for it to slide out onto plate).

Oh and it says to put in 6 moulds but I only had enough for 4 small moulds.

Here is a photo:

I'd love to try this. Could someone tell me what I could use in place of cacao wafers - whatever they are?

I haven't seen cacao wafers here past94x.You could experiment with Lindt Excellence 99% Cocoa Chocolate. (http://www.lindt-shop.co.uk/99-excellence-100g.html) Or you could email Cyndi O'Mera and ask her advice on a substitute.

Cacao Wafers are like choclate buttons (large ones) but probably the purest form. I'm sure you could just substitute the chocolate buttons you find in your grocery store and it would still work. It might not be as healthy but I can't see why it wouldn't work. I have a picture of what they look like in another post....I think of the '53 Shades of Chocolate' review page.

Thanks so much. I thought they may just be pieces of chocolate but you can never be sure. I'll try the recipe with plain chocolate pieces and see what happens. Just made little steamed, lemon puddings from a recipe posted here some time ago. Soooooo easy and so lovely  to eat. Oooooh, I love my TM so much.
