My children loved their great grandpa - they called him great big grandpa (partly because he was a bit on the 'cuddly' side, and partly because of a story book they read...). My eldest two have happy memories of visits which always seemed to involve cake!

I have a very dear friend (92) who is a great grandmother many times over. She is called "big Nanna". It is so lovely.

Sooooo happy 😄 Just got news of DS12's grade 8 exam result. He got an A+.

Wow! That was beyond my hope for him. I was just keeping my fingers crossed that he would get at least a B. He had been extremely difficult, stubborn and moody leading up to the exam last Friday. Parts of his scales were still giving problems, plus his general knowledge of his pieces and composers were patchy a few days before exam 😯 I had to roll up my sleeves and delve into the world of Bach, Mozart and Chopin to help him prepare.

Thank goodness he kept his cool and played his pieces well 😃 The examiner put in the report that he "played like a master" 😆😆😆

His Bach Prelude and Fugue from the recent piano competition.

His Chopin Nocturne, which I posted on another thread...but here it is again 😁

Oh BZB I would be up on the roof yelling and screaming. An A+. Wow, that is truly amazing. He must feel really proud and all your learning of Chopin etc has worked wonders.  Is Grade 8 pretty high for a 12 year old?  Your boys and their musical talents are amazing. Do you or your DH have musical talent?

Thank you Judy, Cookie and Denise xx

I was screaming just now, and my boys told me to calm down 😁😁

Yes, grade 8 at his age is pretty high though not unusual. The age factor was part of my anxiety. Quite hard to predict how kids would behave under pressure.

We don't have any musical background, Cookie. It had been a steep learning curve learning together with my boys.

We'll done, is he more relaxed now it is over BZB or is it just an age phase!

He is very relaxed now, Denise. Catching up on school projects that were neglected due to exam. It was an age thing (pre teen mood swings etc) plus he has a big time middle-child-syndrome attitude. That was always with him, and it is one of my challenges in bringing him up. 😃

That's wonderful BZB.  Congratulations to your son and well done to you for hanging in there with him.  That middle child syndrome is hard work. :)
