CC what a nice easy Christmas cake . Blanched almonds would make it delicious . It reminds me of Browns cakes in Melbourne they would decorate the top of their Christmas cakes with the most amazing glaced fruit . Completely forgotten about them , but what a great idea - yet a little bit expensive .

A quiet day DS on camp in Melbourne. So what to do in the early evening , plant vegetables while DH mows lawn . Very hot day again .

Chookie seeing Costa from gardening show would have set my kids in giggles , they think his beard is rather large and have always commented how eating would be a problem . He is a character with so much knowledge.
Yesterday we watched DD play netball , it was so hot at 9.30am that we felt like we were all getting sunburnt. Then on to DS belt promotion for Martial arts .

Well 5am 35 mm of rain , another 5 by 10 am . Rained most of the day , home to late to read the rain gauge from a very relaxing yoga class . What can one say a week of almost every weather condition. Frost, heat and heavy rain +

It has been very hot the last few days . Severe frost last Saturday now in the 30s . Hard times for some with frost damage to wineries and wheat crops . Always a challenge .

Last night we decided to go out for DD 15Th Birthday dinner . Wood oven gourmet pizzas , nice and crispy . We tried a dessert pizza , not sure about this, lint chocolate and marshmallows. Happy DD and DS .

The kids thought the best way to help was scruff my hair ... It was funny afterwards . We found a few frogs in the veggie patch soil . Now it's Sunday waiting to here DS tell DD what project is for today .

Our two small vegetable patches had another work over today . DS and I added some soil to top them up , we forked them over so many times to mix it all together and we added sheep manure . Finally we are getting closer to planting out the vegetable seedlings. The soil was a little to sandy thus the amount of fork work needed. A bee decided my hair was a plant , it got into my hair and buzzed like crazy , DS & DD came running to see a mad woman screaming . DD managed to pull it out with a clump of my hair ! All good .

Steamed salmon and vegetables with mango salsa. Mango salsa , fresh mango little bit of red pepper, coriander, dash of rice vinegar, salt chilled in the fridge while cooking the fish . The rice vinegar seems to soften the mango .

Will try to take a photo of the cake when we decorate. DS said I am going to make it into a chequerboard cake !!! Maybe next time .

Made a Bimby chocolate cake baked in roasting pan . This afternoon DS is making a vanilla Bimby cake , then we will freeze them . The idea is to put the two together make a batch of chocolate icing and decorate with Jaffas and freckles for classmates birthday . They do this for each others birthday, which was very special for DS this year as I was away .
