Julia,  good idea to use pears.  These would go well with the sauce.  Pears are cheap at the moment also. Love it when people experiment with my recipes.

Will have to try with pears although apple and caramel are a marriage made in heaven..

Used to love having butter pan fried apples with a salted caramel sauce on crepes in a little creperie in baden in bretagne france... Yummmmmmmmm !

Frozzie,  we had the most beautiful crepes in Paris the last time we were there.  Soaked in something very groggy . OH how I love France.

Chookie, this recipe looks good. Would Fuji apples work? I've got loads in the fridge at the moment.

BZB,  it will work with any apple.  The difference is that cooking apples go to mash and eating apples mostly stay in slices.

It looks tasty BZB.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

BZB,  thanks for the photo,  it does look delicious.  In that new pie dish ,  try the Belgium Lemon Tea Cake, but make 1 1/2 times the mixture.

Yum Yum Yum! Made this last night, it was so easy to make. Following advice from the thread I just mixed up the sauce in the tmx (without washing the jug!) and poured over the top before putting in oven. Delicious! I would definitely make this when I have visitors for dinner.
