Sweet and sour sauce for fish.

Although this recipe is for fish, it could also be used for chicken, pork or vegies.  The original recipe is from Family Circle. I have adapted it for the TMX.

4 Tablespoons of each,  honey, tomato paste, and white wine vinegar
2 cloves of garlic
4 spring onions,  white part cut into 4cm. lengths, or 1/4 of a red onion.
dash of Tabasco sauce.

Drop onion and garlic on to blades,  speed 5.  Scrape down.
Add remaining ingredients and mix, speed 2, 100 degrees, for 5 mins, or until mix boils.
Serve hot over fish.

Ohh yum!  We love sweet and sour but haven't had it in years as DH is allergic to pineapple.  I've never seen a recipe without pineapple in it so he will be thrilled.

I made this tonight and served over some fish and rice :)
I set the TMX to 20 minutes/Varoma/speed 4 to cook 300g rice, and after 10 minutes I added the varoma with my fish fillets inside. I could have probably left it another couple of minutes before adding the fish, but never mind :-))
When the 20 minutes were up, I removed the varoma and steaming basket, emptied the remaining water from the bowl and then cooked this sauce. As the TMX was already hot, it took a minute less :)

I served with a salad :D

Good one Amy, now the recipe is bumped people are bound to try it - including me. I have some whole bream which could be cooked the way you did it.

Nice tooking dinner Amy  :)

I love sweet & sour sauce and we are having fish tonight so I will be giving this a go.

Tried Amy's method for lunch today with whole bream and vegies - needed slightly more cooking time of course.

I made half quantity of the sauce first and just reheated it later in the microwave.  Placed whole potatoes, some trombone & carrot pieces in the steaming basket - 900g boiling water & cooked 15 mins/varoma/speed 3.

Added the varoma with the whole bream wrapped in alfoil and some zucchini chunks.  Cooked a further 15 minutes/varoma/speed 3.

Removed the potatoes, cut into wedges and browned on the stove top - placed the rest of the food in the thermoserver apart from 1 piece of bream which I de-boned for DH as the picture will show.

Loved this sauce Chookie and it would be the perfect accompaniment for potato wedges with sour cream or with spring rolls.
My sauce is an entirely different colour to Amy's though  ;D

Thanks Amy and Judy for bringing it to my attention again.  It really is simple.  A lot easier than the Pork Sweet and sour that I posted. Being Chinese New Year will try both again.

 Really liked this sauce Chookie  :-* also because it wasn't sweetened with pineapple.



I had marinated pork fillets in a soy/garlic mix, tossed in corn flour and stir fried until crisp, then the veg, and mixed a little sauce through and dolloped more on top.
Yum, will make again thanks  :)
