My DIL is getting a TMX and is coming here for a lesson. She is a good cook, but works full time, has 2 kids and husband. I would like to demonstrate recipes that will be useful. They are also having their kitchen rebuilt during this year. So is hoping to use the TMX when this happens. I will show her the Varoma but this will not be important in the long term as she is having a steam oven.
They eat a lot of rice based meals as she is Aussie / Chinese.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't stress chookie. She will find her way and can always call you when she needs help.. Show her a quick bread and a whole meal plus a sorbet . If you show her too much she will be overwhelmed and be intimidated by your expertise. Take it easy and provide support.
Certainly a rice and a chicken dish to start.
Don't stress.

My favourite healthy 'come home from work, need food on table NOW' dinner is pasta faglioli.
I know it is not everyone's favourite, but as most of the ingredients are always on hand, it is very convenient.
I make sure that I always have all the ingredients in the pantry so that at least if all else fails, I can have that on the table in 20minutes or so. We don't like the 'soupy style' so we have tweaked it to suit our tastes (maximum pasta and minimum liquid mentioned) and it turns out very similar to mac and cheese.
Beef Risotto posted here is good when you need a meat meal quickly.
Another good one is Quirky Jo's fried rice, as there are always lots of leftovers. I find the directions in the Devil of a Cookbook are a bit easier to follow than Jo's but I think hers is more creative. Frozen veggies (the type with a few veg in the pack) are really good to have on stand-by for these ones too.
I look forward to hearing how she goes :) I'm sure with you as her coach she'll have no trouble :)
I don't ususally make meatballs after work, but I really like the "pasta with meatballs" recipe here on the forum to make a freeze.

I also work, have a DH and a little one. Our regulars here include chicken, sweet corn soup - very Asian and delicious, the brown rice salad, Snappy's quick and easy curry and judy's chicken/vegies patties.

Thanks again girls. Very good ideas again. Will look up Snappy's recipe as I know the kids like curry, Infact like it hotter than me.

One other recipe I forgot to list, which is one of our favourite, is Nico's thai chill basil chicken. I add more chillies than stated but it's very delicious. We have also enjoyed steamed seafood/fish (using varoma) whilst cooking pototoes in the basket and making a thai-based dressing for the seafood.

thanks again.

I should've thought of Nico's recipe - that's what I'm having tonight :-)) its delicious
