Got my new PURPLE Thermapen today.

Note the outside temp is 91° F., but 76.5° F inside with only the "swamp" cooler running.

Evaporative coolers cost only a tiny fraction to run because power use is very low.

I have a lot of Mauviel copper cookware.  Some was purchased by my great-grandmother in Villedieu-les-Poêles in the 1870s. Some was purchased before WWI by my grandfather and some was purchased in the 1930s by my grandmother when they visited France, Greece and Italy, skipping Spain because of "civil unrest" -

I used to have to get most of it retinned every few years but when Bourgeat came out with the stainless steel lined copper, I bought the most common pots and frypans and retired the old stuff.

One of my friends, a gourmet cook who lives in New York, got a big set of the Mauviel Stainless M'Cook 5-ply cookware with the aluminum core and just loves it. She was interviewed and gave a TV review for a local (New York) PBS station, demonstrating the cookware.

Have just googled Mauviel. What beautiful cookware.
I just bought Swiss Diamond on sale and it just doesn't compare.

Hello Frozzie
Lucky you, I am green with envy, I was looking at the Marviel flared saute pan the other day.  Oh well, I suppose I can always dream.

Will be getting a few pieces and will probably top up with different pieces when we return to France.. You can buy it in oz but prefer to buy it locally ...
