is it a Day Lily?

No I don't think so. I see them being sold on the highway and I think it begins with a C but not sure. Comes in Reds too.i do think it is a member of the lily family but has no smell.

They gave me an orchid too. Wanna see it?

My spatula and brush set arrived today from Helene. After the pate knife debacle (refer to oops photos) I will be able to put it to good use.

That was mighty quick.

There are plenty of ideas if you google that question about preserving ginger Gretchen.  With nice thin skinned ginger like that, I just freeze it and grate it frozen into whatever I am cooking - so easy with a microplane zester.  There is one recipe for preserved ginger in syrup - don't know what you would use that for, desserts, cakes probably.

I thought day lily too like CP so if the flower only lasts a day, you will know we are right ;D ;D  Is there a white clivia CP, I've only seen yellow and orange here.

The price of your ginger is soooo cheap Gretchen, wish I could get it for that price so that I could make the ginger drink from EDC more often.  Ginger here is around $12 - $15 kg and never looks as nice as yours.

I was gunna  google when I have a minute because my DH  just loves sticking his fingers in the jar and pulling outta hunk. I'll look up,that recipe JD and thanks for that.  Isn't there an acronym for people too lazy to google the answer to a question?

I really want to preserve it. Any ideas? It does not need peeling at  all.

Gert

There is a pickled ginger recipe in the WW preserves book - says to serve it with sushi, seafood or Asian salads.
