Tips/Hints:
I used soy sauce instead of tamari
The pastry recipe is the EDC rough puff pastry substituting wholemeal flour for plain flour
Lisel: Made this last night, very pleased with how it turned out, and everyone enjoyed it, always a tricky thing with lentils! Thanks for posting it!
RosieB: Yumm.
I made the filling with a couple tweaks.
Left out the celery as I didn't have any and put in some fresh chilies and capsicum and a small piece of fresh ginger,
Poured it over steamed, lightly buttered potatoes.
Put into a dish, Sprinkled with Cheese and just heated until lightly browned.
It was heavenly, (with a little sweet soy sauce)
Zada: ade this tonight using Filo Pastry.Yum
Michele: Made this delicious pie for Good Friday dinner - DH was very impressed. great recipe Den.
DM: We did shortcut - using puff pastry and tinned lentil. Enjoyed by all. Next time will follow the recipe and start from scratch.

This looks delicious. As I can't use dairy I might try it using filo pastry, minus the cheese in the filling.
Thanks for posting the recipe.

Cuilidh I have made this with filo pastry and it turns out quite nice. The cheese tends to help bind the lentils together so that it doesn't fall appart when you cut it.
Something other than cheese that would melt into the lentils a bit would help hold iot together. I wonder if soft tofu would work.
-
Yep, I could eat that and I am not a great lentil lover although I've done more with them since I got the TMX than I had done in my previous life.
-
I was thinkint of maybe doing them in small triangles or rectangles so perhaps the cheese wouldn't play such an important part in the binding of the ingredients. I do miss cheese, though, maybe I'll make some with cheese for me and some without for DH.

Good on you Dashingden for converting, posting & putting up a photo

Wow, the pastry looks great! Will have to add this to my vege folder

Thanks MJ that was my first ever attempt at pastry. It was easy enough and came out so good that I will probably never buy frozen pastry again.
I was out in your neck of the woods today. I spent the day at the school assisting the new registrar with end of year finances. I will probably visit Nyabing PS quite a bit during term one while she finds her feet.
