Oh Cookie, what a disappointment.   At least it wasn’t wasted.
Not much cooking here today as will spend time in garden.   Will eat from the freezer.

I've only made gnocchi from ricotta for dinner tonight. DD and DH are still consuming the broken strawberry cake!

Ral has requested some Mars Bars ice cream.
Yesterday,  curried egg sandwiches for lunch.  I added some home grown watercress.

That sounds yummy Margaret. I have made a Classic loaf. I had my rye SD starter out to make a loaf, I had only glanced at the new recipe! When I started to make it, it only used 25g of starter and when mixed with flour and water had to be left for 16 hours. As I had a fair bit of starter left that was nice and active (it floated in the water beautifully) I started a rye batard. https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=17515.0

Oops, Cookie.  I sometimes get caught out like that also.   Have you tried floating the white starter?

Yes, I floated the white starter yesterday. It was perfect. I really like that way of checking.
Today I have the rye SD batard rising as a loaf and another rye bread that used 25g of starter to make a 'biga'. That has some yeast in so its rising very quickly.

I made some Jam Drop biscuits yesterday. I filled them with some home made strawberry jam and a tiuny bit of lemon and lime curd DD had.

Yesterday I was looking through some very old recipe clippings I had (searching for a recipe) and found an interesting fruit cake recipe. It rubbed the butter into the flour and spices, then made a custard with the eggs and milk, then mixed it all together, with the fruit of course. The recipe was in Imperial measures and even said to use Australian eggs, if they were in season! The thermomix was handy to do all the bits, I'm sure who ever wrote the recipe never dreamed a machine like it could ever exist.
It is in the oven at the moment.

Mab, we love homemade Sausage Rolls.
Cookie, that does sound interesting.  I have found a lovely recipe today for an Apricot and Almond slice.  I’m not making it as I will eat some and am on a carb watch at the moment.

KAtie, good buy with seconds for Strawberry Jam.   I didn’t know that they grew Strawberries at Portland.
I’ve got 2 lots of SD developing over night. Will cook one lot in a pot for demo for workshop on Sunday.  Might make bread sticks with other.
