Awesome pics!!  It looked more like a standard blender in the old days, didn't it?

The burnt orange one is the one my MIL had!  DH has confirmed...much excitement here from DH to see the old girl again!  those custards must have been good...

I love bimby  - I have the contacted consultant but she is overseas til later in the week. hopefully we can organise in time!  If not it is a lesson in patience, for sure....

yes i was thinking about what to do when the demo is finished - maybe for dinner that night.  but i think a soup is probably the way to go as i love soups, cook them alot and would love to experiment with how TM will make that process quicker and easier...

i saw a recipe on a blog for chick pea and spinach soup (where you pulverize the dried chickpeas) which I think I might try...

judydawn i will do some digging right now for pics or info on old TM's...

thanks quirky - it may have to be a custard for sentimental value, but i'm sure i'll be on a cooking binge so any more suggestions gratefully received!

judydawn - yes i would LOVE to see pics of the old models (i like old things generally)!  MIL told me she is wearing green to the demo (as she will be feeling so envious)!

thanks for the kind welcome.  :)

it's great to have a forum where everyone can share and improve on the recipes - I will definitely be using them!  the internet is my main recipe source these days (have ditched magazine subs) - there is so much wisdom and experience out there.

Introduce Yourself / thermomix - how I have dreamed of thee!

Hello everyone.

I have my demo booked for Sunday and the $ sitting in my account to begin my thermomix adventure.  I am EXTREMELY excited.  I love cooking, and have many different gadgets, but had always held off buying a food processor and/or kitchenaid because it annoyed me that I would have to buy both.  Somehow, I just know there must be a better way!

I discovered the thermomix because of a childhood memory of my husband.  He was reminiscing about the perfect custards his mother used to make in the 70's with this really strange blender-type machine.  He can recall her complete and utter devastation when a part finally gave way and she was unable to replace it.  He asked her about it recently and after some digging around we discovered it was a thermomix (where would we be without the internet?)!  So it seems they were for sale in Australia many years ago, then  disappeared for awhile...

I will spend this week doing lots of research, making lists of things I want to try and generally get less and less sleep as the week wears on due to my excitement!

Thanks for the forum - I'm sure it will be a gold mine of information!
