Many recipes have been taken word for word from the Fast and Easy Cooking cookery book.Janie Turner always gives cooking instructions for cooking in an Aga so I recognized them.

Well !!! This easily qualifies as the most interesting thing I've seen all year! (Thanks faffa!)

Don't you love that model number? What the .... BTMKM510 ? If we assume the "B" is for 'Bellini', and the "KM" is for 'Kitchen Master'... then what do you think "TM" means? Hmmm???

Oh my. Such a low price. Even cheaper than the Hotmix. If we view the glass as half full, I would say this will bring even more attention to the TMX and will bring a flood of new members to this forum from Oz.

Trying to figure out if it does reverse. There is almost no info on the website and the PDF... just that recipe book which mentions it being made in China. (no surprise)

Found "Thermomix" mentioned five times in the recipe book, and "TM" mentiond 23 times. (As in "TM bowl", "TM measuring cap", "TM lid" etc. No mention of butterfly or varoma.

Also very interesting:
When I searched for the manufacturer on Google, most of the top search results for "Gerard Sourcing and Manufacturing" turned out to be about product recalls (https://www.google.com/search?q=Gerard+Sourcing+%26+Manufacturing&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___CA439)! Whoa... unsuspecting buyers had best beware. Or at least... be aware.

Just looking at their recipe booklet for the Filo pastry pg 62, there is this:

"I never bothered making filo pastry before having a Thermomix. Now I always use home- made filo as it is so easy to handle and bakes beautifully. Do roll it very thin-in Vienna it is said that one should be able to read a love letter throgh strudel pastry!"

Oh that's bad.

I find it amazing that they don't even have the imagination to change the look of the Varoma.

It will be interesting when people who purchase the Bellini start joining the forum

That's real bad. Someone needs to save the contents of the booklet before they realize their mistake and fix it. Obviously they have just copied recipes from people who have a TM and not actually come up with their own recipes for this machine.

Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: ThermomixBlogger on March 12, 2012, 03:07:13 am
I'd be "targeting" Target. They are clearly dealing with an unethical supplier as can be seen by the recipe book etc. The manufacturer won't care, but Target might care if it makes them look bad. Then again... more publicity for Target means more sales of this unit. Though I can't help wondering what would happen if all the TMX owners in Oz stopped shopping at Target.

Shame on Target!  :P

I thought Vorwerk had international patents on the design concept (not just what it looks like, but the fact that it is multi-function)
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: courton on March 12, 2012, 04:02:06 am
When I was in China I got the distinct feeling that patents were meaningless to them. In fact I saw a local tv program where the people were openly saying that the Chinese are not just good at copying but proud of the fact you cannot tell which is the original and which was the copy. A good copy is highly regarded.

I will be surprised if theres nt a lawsuit over this.

My understanding is that Vorwerk only patented the TM31 not the TM21.  That is why the Chinese are only copying the old technology of the TM21 - well for now anyway!.

Well in one way I hope it is good and does everything well so people don't go out and buy it and waste their money.
Really like anything we buy there are always cheaper brands and expensive brands. Usually the expensive brands will give you the best experience and service and last longer (but this isn't always the case)

Can't wait to hear some reviews

Thermochef, now Bellini......you can bet Aldi will have one in there range sooner or later.  And then my MIL will get one....she has just about every Aldi product known to man.  Its a good thing they have a caravan to put some of it in!

I had to laugh though......she was using a vacuum sealer the other week and I asked her how she found it, and she said it was fantastic, but she is on her 3rd machine......if it was any other brand she would be saying she would never buy anything made by them ever again.  She has Aldi coarsing through her veins!  Each birthday and Christmas you just wonder what is coming from Aldi.  For Christmas last year they gave us a 2 burner BBQ.....they know we have 2 4 burner BBQs!  You should have heard my husband putting it together...bending frame, holes that didn't line up properly....it was hilarious!

I am not anti-Aldi, but my MIL drives us a bit crazy with her Aldi addiction.

Sorry......I digress

That is absolutely brilliant. Thank you for translating . What a job, did Vorwerk sent this to you knowing you speak French?   I can't wait for part 2.

So much interesting "stuff" today.

Ha ha, very funny Gertbysea!

In fact, I worry that Vorwerk won't be pleased at the secret 'views' inside the factory and may ask for this video to be removed on YouTube. For that reason I had to search till I found the original on the French news site. I doubt the news people would take down the original, so I think we fans are safe to view for the time being.

I LOVE this video (http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/2012/16475/vorwerk-semco-thermomix.html) because it is in stark contrast to what we see coming out of China these days. So NON Apple-like and so not like the Chinese factories. It's another reason to feel warm and fuzzy about owning a Thermomix, imho.

Part two will be different, but relevant  ;)

The TM21 was patented ... it has now expired which is why we are getting all the knock off's based on the old technology. Note that none of them really do come close to the TM31.  ;)

As for China and it's knock offs, no they don't care about patents ... and most people are not aware that they are buying an item that has patent's on it and has been unlawfully copied  :-))

Oh WOW  :o  There are a lot of spelling, grammatical and recipe errors in the rip off recipe book.  From the 'special' flour in the pizza. What is 'special' flour does anyone know?

Which cook book have they ripped off.  I have the Taste of India, the thai and the EDC and haven't seen some of these recipes in any of them.  I'm a bit queazy reading about gorgonzola rice mind you.

What is interesting is that the pdf recipe rip off site doesn't let me copy it.  I hope the real thermomix lawyers can get it.

Someone will be in for a surprise when they try to put 2.9kg worth of ingredients into the 2litre jug in the pumpkin rice  :-))

Hally,  I am in the category of can't afford the TM..  And I love my TC..
The recipe book with the TC is basic to say the least,  But the recipes do work.
What worries me with this item is that even if it is a good machine,  So many buyers will be disillusioned if they try to use it with the recipes given.
I guess the up side is I may get to buy one as a spare from an op-shop when they start being discarded   ;D ;D ;D

What is a "lettuce bulb"???  or "1 small box of evaporated milk"????

And the instructions are terrible.  They are sooo confusing.

This is none of my business... and is also somewhat distasteful, so I prefer to say as little as possible.

Appears to be an Australian company based in Adelaide. Been around for a long time. They source and manufacture from China. In my opinion, they saw a trend and an opportunity and simply went into business with the machine. That said, they should have done due diligence and created their own recipes. I've been the victim of intellectual property theft in the past and it's no fun and sadly, all too common.

If this is enough of a concern to someone (ie, Vorwerk, or HO) they will find the facts for themselves (or their lawyers will do so).

Oh funny, I've had a really quick flick through a few of the recipes and here's a couple of things that made me giggle...
3 smashed bananas ... must be my sense of humour - but was wondering what those poor bananas were drinking to get smashed
black, brown and white chocolate... guess that covers all of the colours
3/4 bowl cocoa -  ???
add milk to thicken the mixture at the end...  ???

Wonder who taste tested the recipes once they were done...and if they are still alive to give the final verdict!

I am really looking forward to sitting down and reading this through.

Wonder who taste tested the recipes once they were done...and if they are still alive to give the final verdict!

I am really looking forward to sitting down and reading this through.

I haev just looked in my UK Fast and Easy book and the bread recipes are an exact copy of recipes in that book...even so much as they have even copied the lead in paragraph...for example

Chollah Many thanks to my friend Sigal Ivry for this recipe. She regularly impresses all her friends byserving home-made chollah bread made in herThermomix. Its a lovely start to the Sabbath

That is exactly what is in the UK book!!!!

Assume the other recipes are just made up or maybe copied from other countries TM books ?

im finding the whole thing hilarious and wonderng how HQ is dealing with this!!!  love to be a fly on the wall in Grace's office!!

Wouldn't it be amazing it Vorwerk or  or anyone from ANY Thermomix HO took an interest in replying to any comments made here on
this open forum.

I am sure we would welcome their comments  on any of our  bouquets or brickbats. At least we would know  they take some interest in what their customers think. There  is no reason why they  should not have a voice here. We would certainly appreciate their feedback as well as helping us to see their  view point. Encouraging the consultants to have a voice here would be a step in the right direction .

How many of us have to time to follow so many Facebook , blogs, and twitters to keep up to date and hello, we have over 6000 members right here willing to share, listen and contribute from all over the world and in so many languages.

Of course we will always follow our favourite  specialised blogs and Facebook pages but right here is where we can find out about EVERYTHING and that leads us to other wonderful  blogs and places.

Well I received my Target catalogue today and yes the Bellini kitchen master is in there and on sale starting Thursday.
I want to go to Target and check it out closely. But unfortunately I'm not sure if I can hop that far, and if I did I would have to go up the escalator on crutches (I don't think so ;D)

I thought the video showed the Bellini off rather well - can see that it will sell as it is within the price range of a lot more people than the Thermomix.  OK, ours will most certainly last longer and probably be able to work harder but these copycats are going to keep appearing on the market and there doesn't appear any way of stopping them - patents run out on everything eventually and these people are just waiting for the opportunity to pounce.  Maybe Vorwerk need to reduce the price of the Thermomix to keep it leader in the field.

Judy, I've just watched it too and thought the same.  Incredible how most of it looks identical to our TM, even down to the indentations on the bowl.  :o

I sure would love to try one to see the differences.  If I had room I would buy one as I could see it being handy especially if it can cook at a higher temp.

Didn't hear scales mentioned anywhere, but I tend to use my digital ones a lot of the time anyway so that wouldn't be an issue for me.

Will watch with interest if anyone does and their impressions.  :)

I have just watched the youtube clip. I must say if I wanted a TM and couldnt afford $1939, from seeing the clip and maybe  attending a TM demo I would snap it up. You can buy about 6 of these for one TM. You log on here and hey presto you have all the recipes. The likeness of the bowl, blades & butterfly blew me away.

As a back up I must admit I think t woukd be ok.

I'm planning to duck into Target to have a quick look at it tomorrow....wouldn't dare bring it home...my husband would divorce me!  It will be very interesting to see what effect this has on the Thermomix market.  As I've posted on Whirlpool, I'm actually finding that I tend to pick up my Thermochef jug before I pick up my Thermomix jug because I prefer the design of it (It makes less mess!).  The only times that I would choose to use the Thermomix over the Themochef is when I am making a heavy dough (and I actually prefer my Kenwood...no mucking around with blades) or when it is a small amount of liquid which the Thermochef cannot cope with.  The two machines are extremely interchangeable in the way that they perform.

I would love to have a look at the design of the jug (I wonder if I could pull a box apart :) ).  The jug in the video looks more like the Thermomix than the Thermochef.....it would be interesting to see if the blades sit lower in the jug.  The Thermochef blades sit higher than the Thermomix, which makes it easier to clean, but I think is the reason it doesn't cope with small amounts as well.

Surely these "imitations" will drive Thermomix to revise their prices.  I'm about to head to Germany for business and will be staying in Munich and am hoping that I might get to Landshut (about 60k away I believe) so that I can buy a second jug for my Thermomix from the Vorwerk shop there.  I would love to be able to walk into a shop here and just pick up what I needed...and save myself about $100.

Looks like you've been to a shop that already has it on display Gretchen  :D  Yes we all know it is crap but it is the price that will sell it and I'm sure they will have instore demos which will encourage people to buy one there and then without giving it much thought.  Give me the Rolls Royce model any day but I'm sure this will sell all the same.

The sad thing is that people who can't afford a TMX will compromise price for quality!
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....

Now I am waiting in a Thai restaurant for some take away!

Having said it is crap and it is I would definitely buy it for a boat, caravan, beach house, or student. Has a Target Tested warranty I suppose and why not for the price? No reverse but so what. Definitely an alternative and I am sure it will be a seller.

Great gift for kids wanting to move out I say. The blades are pretty poor quality as is the jug and a few extr bits of suspect plastic but  if it lasts a couple of years so be it.  Because the design is from the TMX21 and familiar I can see it even as a back up or second Thermomix. cheaper than an extra jug eh. Think about that.

Gertbysea.

Title: Re: Look what Target has ....

Compromise is not always a bad thing.  I have a friend who cannot afford a Thermomix at this point in her life so is interested in a Thermochef......it will do what she needs, introduce her to this style of cooking and at some point in the future when she has the money she will probably upgrade to a Thermomix.  At least in the mean time she will have had the opportunity to benefit from the convenience of this type of device.

Ten years ago I could not have afforded to buy a Thermomix....even two and a half years ago, it was a push to afford it.  I would have been quite happy with the Thermochef.....(can't comment on the Bellini cos I haven't seen or tried it).  Yes, the Thermomix is a more powerful machine (whether it is necessarily $1200 or $1500 better is up to the individual, personally as I've already stated...I don't think so) and I love mine....but I also love my Kenwood and my Thermochef.

if Vorwerk travelling case costs $80 - $120, and you take your TM with you on holidays/weekends- I'm thinking that its pretty good value for the $ as I would rather leave my TM at home and pack the cheapie rather than risk anything happening to it, yet still be able to cook in the same way using my TM recipes.
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: faffa_70 on March 14, 2012, 02:05:14 am
My only concern would be the quality of the plastic and stainless steel as you are cooking / heating in it. I was having a contemplation... thinking that it would be good for when I am cooking all my sauces etc that take 45 min to an hour to cook and tie up my TMX when I just want to be getting on and cooking  :o :o I don't think I could buy it because of that concern ... will have to wait for a second TMX  :'( :'(
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....

I love watching how the pendulum swings  :D

I too saw the butterfly speed thing and thought "yes!" but that was the only positive. Great photos Gertbysea, lovely to have someone go out on our behalf and do all this sleuthing. Would have been fun to count the boxes on the shelf and go back next week to check  ;)

I like the creative suggestions for how to use it as a second model etc. Just as you suggested Gertbysea... cheaper than a second bowl. Plus, if they are compatible and transferable... possibly two baskets, two measuring caps, two Varomas, and spatulas. Heck, worth the price just for the spare parts?!  :o Ooops, maybe not! I'm pretty sure the old model/Bellini bowl won't fit the TM31, as the shape is slightly different etc so maybe those parts will just have to stay on the Bellini. Oh well.

Someone asked if Vorwerk might have had something to do with removal of the recipes etc. I highly doubt it. I think it would have been a case of removing due to embarrassment on the part of the Aussie promoter. (It was obviously a rush job without the benefit of true community input. Just look at how sloppy the sorbet is on the video. Any responsible company would have re-shot that scene, imho) From what I can tell by reading into the Vorwerk Annual reports (http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/2011/13125/vorwerk-thermomix-sales.html),k Australia is not even on the Vorwerk radar. Yes, there are a lot of TMX sold in Oz, but the numbers are still comparatively small and Australia is 'only' a distributorship, as opposed to a true Vorwerk branch. I doubt they would get involved unless it was something very significant and beyond the realm of the Aussie HO to deal with. I could be wrong, but that's my hunch.

"May we live in interesting times"...

Thats my concern as well. I initially thought it would be a great alternative for our caravan but wouldn't buy it until I   get more info on what it's made from.
Gertbysea - was there any thing on the box about what it's made from?

Looks to me like the basket might fit. The spatula, definitely. No to the jug and lid  but the cup might. They had  3 in sealed boxes. I looked for the box the thing came out of but couldn't find it. No instructions or cookbook that I could find and I did look. I could not move the boxes out to  look for the "made in" label as I was juggling the iPad  and my handbag which I did not want to put down though I did for a minute to take the jug off which was not so easy. You have to place it and then push down on it into the rubber holders for the prongs so that you could lock the lid under a lip.

Wanna see another Belini product rip off? Target is full of them. Must be having a small electrical appliance sale but couldn't find a cattle dog

Today the machine was $399. Yup at $269 I would  buy it. Cheaper than my toaster.

I too like the idea of purchasing one for holidays. Our holiday home is about 7 hours drive away, so it would be nice to tansport a cheap one. DH  worries someone will steal my TM in a holiday house :o

So its worth a thought, see how the reviews go etc.

H :)

Since my last post I am more interested to hear how it goes, just been tossing it in my mind.

If i could take it on holidays without the worry of damagaing my TM i think I woud buy one, or if HO offered your 2nd TM at half price :o :o, that would stop a lot of TM owners purchasing this imitation as their "holiday machine".

didnt have any at my local target...wonder if TM HQ here in perth sent undercover agents in to buy up all existing machines

i have been having a think about it though and TM promotes 'get a thermomix and cook healthy food for your family' as one of the major selling points...so really when you think about it having a cheaper machine might possibly encourage those families who cannot no way afford a real TM to get this one and  be able to now cook more healthy food...so really TM cant complain!! as its just meaning more kids and families having more healthy food!! just what TM want!!

Thanks Gert.
I think she knew it was going to be on special so she wouldn't buy until it is.  But I will check with her.
I do know every $ matters to her so pretty sure she will get it right.  She lives quite a distance from the nearest Target so all would be done online or by phone.
I recently gave her a mix master that cost about the same amount.

Thanks for all this info, everyone. While I can't believe the brazen copying of recipes, and personally I am glad I got a tmx before any other options were available as I wonder if we would have gone with a cheaper option only to end up purchasing a tmx anyway . . .  I would consider buying one for my daughter who is at university.  She has gained alot of weight since leaving home and her mum's healthy cooking and I often lament that I can't afford a tmx for her.  She is only cooking for one or two and if the machine only lasted a year or two, but she managed to eat more healthfully in that time it would be well worth the money, I think.  I'm sure Target Country wouldn't stock it else I would be sorely tempted to go right now and buy one!  Will wait for reviews with interest.

This is my concern too but you get what you pay for.  In any case the thx is the ONLY machine on the market with a carbon motor or whatever it is called so doesnt wear out and the surgical grade steel etc etc.. I get there are alot of people who cant afford the thx but with payment plan options i would prefer to pay off a thx than buy an imitation that wont last anyway...these knock off machines dont invest in researching high quality materials but just use whatever passes manufacturing laws/guidelines.  Have you noticed more and more that its harder to find on a box or in a booklet what an item is made out of..

Another point is yes it can be a pain to organise a demo and wait for it to be delivered but in most circumstances you can ask any questions you want and get n nswer plus they show you how to use the machine whereas if you bought it in a shop ok its quick and easy but after ???

People will always bork? At the price of high ed goods.. If people knew the cost of some cars or boats or even jewellery they would freak but thats human nature especially in todays market where everyone wants something for next o nothing hence all the chinese knockoffs..,
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: dede on March 14, 2012, 09:00:41 am
Yes I guess it's the chicken feed version of a TM. I try more and more these days to pay a bit more to get better quality. And I make great use of product reviews that are available all over the Internet. It's always hard to buy something new when there are no reviews to go buy.  But time will tell, either they will be worth the money or more, or be another of these cheap throw away items once they stop working and are not worth fixing.
I hope to have my TM for 20 years, and I know that no matter what happens to it, it can be fixed and will be well worth fixing.

If you do not  think of it as a TMX mini me and consider it  an ordinary blender that cooks and steams then why ever not? You have to figure the mark up would be a minimum of 200%. The blades will work for as long as a normal blender say, and the heating element whatever so a  cheapie that may last a year. At say $270  it is costing only roughly $5.00 a week. If you are lucky and it dies within the warranty then you will probably get a new one as it would not be worth their while to repair it. If it is recalled due to parts failing then you will get your money back.

All in all worth the risk. I think it will be a winner and Vorwerk  could  not care less about the Australian market. Very small change in their world. The only people concerned would be Australian head office I should think and of course the consultants.  Do not be surprised if we see some new members with very negative reviews of the Bellini on the forum. LOL!

It used to be a joke that some  appliances would last a year and a day. Hopefully the Bellini  will last 364 days and you can still claim on the warranty. If it lasts a lot longer then great. Yippee!

We lovers of our Thermomix have no need to sneer at this machine. Maybe Tenina will bring this one, the TMX , the Hotmix Pro and the ThermoChef  to her classes one day and we can all be the judge. She should get right on to that. Maybe they would give her some machines for free to test! That would be roo funny.

I am sure Helene's Super Spatulas and wonderful brushes  would work well in all of them as well. May as well support those who support  us.  All the recipes are easily interchangeable so long as they are not translated by robot translators.

With over 6,000 members  all informing , sharing and helping each other we can be generous to those who may aspire to the overpriced  Thermomix  and wish them well with their not so wonderful but  definitely useful machines. Horses or courses I say.

It is gunna get interesting.

I currently have three of them sitting on my bench at home and am greatly resisting the urge to bring a fourth toy home from Target tomorrow.  I'm not allowed to head into work tomorrow (actually I could but I'm not being encouraged to :) ) as I believe a gentleman from Hotmixpro is coming in to see us.  My husband is just no fun at times :P.  I am looking forward to seeing the reviews of the Bellini machine although I suspect they are not going to be overly favourable....I was pleasantly surprised by the Thermochef however so you just never know.

Back to making bread and hommus....gotta have something for the fussy female teenager to eat for breakfast....why can't she just eat weetbix like a normal kid!

If you do not  think of it as a TMX mini me and consider it  an ordinary blender that cooks and steams then why ever not?

a little bit hard not to when they are clearly marketing THIS machine as exactly that...even using the name thermomix which has to break i dont know how many copyright laws... As far as the thermochef goes personally i hav no issues with it as it is always the way with any great appliance... Eventually when the patent runs out machnes flood the market however with the bellini being such am obvious takeoff i just think something like that should be shutdown.  If not then where will it end???

You are right about that Frozzie but there will always be people making a buck from other peoples hard work. We know the motor is nothing like  the reluctance motor in the TMX  so it most certainly won't last long with the workout it will be getting and eventually it will, get a bad reputation and be history.

If it ever shows up in the US they no doubt will sell a zillion just because it looks  so much the same.

Like I say interesting times ahead.

My Target "cattle dog" arrived this morning .just another snippet. The Bellini has 1000 watts of heating and just a 500 watt motor.

Just to compare the Breville BBL605 blender at around $228 has a 1200 watt motor. Don't know how the Bellini is  going to knead a kilo of dough for a few minutes.

If we gave the Bellini kitchen master a work out like we do the TM the motor probably would burn out. :)

I had to head down to Target today (desperately needed some black trousers to take away.....tell me why dressing room mirrors have to be SOOOOOOO cruel!).  My local target had NONE (the bellini's not the trousers :P) on the shelves so I assume that they must have walked out fast.  I did find the tag for them shoved at the back of the bottom shelf.....I noticed that it had "no rainchecks" on it so it will be interesting to see if they get any more in.

I went into Target yesterday to have a look. What a piece of junk. The silver cog thing on the bottom that you can see in Gertbysea's photo is made from a cast alloy looking substance. That got the alarm bells ringing loudly as it's the bottom of the blade assembly. Could we get spares if it broke??. The lid was quite flimsy, a bit flexible and was difficult to lock in place. (That may become easier as it was used more) I couldn't see a spatula or varoma so can't comment on them. The box says the bowl is stainless steel but not the grade. The bowl was fairly light but ok.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I contemplated this machine for the caravan but after seeing it, wouldn't touch it with the proverbial 10' pole. I'm back to looking for a second hand TM 21, TM31 (or buying a Thermochef)

DH and I popped over to the nearest Target about 10 this morning. We couldn't find any so went and asked. We were told they had sold out. I replied 'that's ok I have my TMX.' The saleswomen replied 'oh they are exactly the same things.'
I do hope she hadn't persuaded anyone to buy using that statement. Gretchen as I didn't see one thanks for your photos.

I love my TMX to bits but my husband and I have often discussed getting our two daughters and daughter in law one each.  The only thing that worried us was would they use the machine.... Would hate to see it getting dusty and unused in a cupboard somewhere.

We discussed it again last night in light of the Bellini and decided it was worth the risk to go and try and get three this morning.  I was lucky (or not as we will no doubt find out) and got the last three in my local Target.   I have washed and upacked and set up for my two daughters and at first glance and to be honest they don't look that bad.  They seem reasonably solid.  Someone here says they are flimsy but really I thought for the money they will at least show us if the girls will use them or not and if they find them wonderful but crappy and limiting then we can look at getting them the real thing.  As someone has previously said here, there is a one year warranty and if they only last that long then its not a lot to fork out.  I told them these were early mother's day pressies for them:)

haha I'm one of the nutters who bought one today  ;D I've unpacked it to have a quick look, but am working today so won't be able to have a go of it until the weekend unfortunately. I thought it would be great for my beach house, but not sure at this stage whether I will keep it just for myself or let guests who rent our house use it. Spose if I let guests use it for the 1st year and it breaks down its ok, but if I let them use it and one day after the 12 month warranty runs out I'll be spewing spitting chips.

We will all be interested to see how your girls go with the Bellinis. Good having three to compare how each goes.. Hope  it works out and they will move on to the real deal eventually.

I would think the consultants would be experiencing  a few cancellations of demos about now  which is a shame.

Please keep us informed about the performance of theirs machines.

The importer must be thrilled as well as Target.

Ah, cream puff. Couldn't help yourself eh?  I can't wait for your review. How about  a loaf of bread and a risotto. That should give a fair indication of what it can do. Also let us know if any of the parts are interchangeable. I forgot to look at the seal of the lid. I am sure the butterfly would work.

Oh and there was no recipe book in any of the three boxes even though it's advertised on the box.  Apart from that all was good.  YOu would not be able to interchange the seal on the lid it is entirely different.  The bowl and the varoma and all the other bits and pieces look much the same.  I need to compare the Bellini directly with my TMX though to be sure.  I wonder if the plastic on the other bits and pieces is comparable to what TMX is or not.  Hope it's not going to be harmful...

I'll look forward to what everyone says. I was thinking it would be nice to buy one for DD. She hasn't shifted out yet but misses the TMX when we take it away which is 3-4 months a year. Of course it would be handy to have the extra machine. I'll see how the ones that have been purchased go. Target missed out on my sale this morning as they had run out. Out of 12 machines yesterday, there was only 5 boxes left when I got there at 9am. I have a recipe book. the MC fits in the TM hole, but the steaming basket doesn't fit inside the TM jug. I didn't try the Bellini Varoma on my TM cos my genuine lid was in the dishwasher. The spatula is more rubbery and flexible than the TM one. I bought a digital set of scales for $16 that measures from 5g up.

I've decided that I won't put it out for guests to use because they will probably not read the instructions and ruin the butterfly etc. I don't think Vorwerk have anything to worry about, in all likelihood they probably will benefit as more people get used to the concept and buy the real thing when these peg out.

There are nearly 300 Target stores in Australia, well 291 including  Target Country.  If each store sold an average of  5 then someone will be laughing and someone will be crying because those who really want aTMX will now wait and see .

Interesting that so many TMX owners bought them today.  The forum may be busy with reviews this weekend. If they did not have cookbooks then this and other web sites like  www.superkitchenmachine  will be busy. Tenina's publisher better get ready for some more sales. And they will all be wanting the wee cleaning brushes and spatulas from Helene's site.

Trial 1: decided to make Basic Bread Recipe p65 of their recipe book. No questions asked, just straight from the book. First thing, they don't appear to have 37oC (remember they copied straight from the Fast & Easy) and only have 40oC. Second thing, their flour specified in the recipe was incorrect. The blades were not turning in a consistent pattern, so I thought I would bin this mix and start with my own recipe. Their recipe said 310g Flour, mine that I use is 500g (about average). Best to compare anyway with a recipe that I know how the bread turns out.

It says in the Dough setting (whatever that is on the machine, I suppose Sp 1 - 3) to use the Butterfly, so I did. The blades were still not turning consistently and seemed to take a while to "take off". I was watching very closely through the hole, and it started to smell a little like it was heating up but I didn't want to get that mixed up with the "newness" smell. A little trail of smoke out the back, and error message came up E3. Turned it off, grabbed the dough and put it in TM for this loaf.

Its a new day tomorrow, and will try something else.

Maybe this'll help to sell more TM's after all! Either from realising that you get what you pay for and nothing else comes close, or if it works well for a year or so, by convincing people that they use the machine enough to buy the real thing when they can afford to.

I just can't see how the butterfly can knead the dough - is that really what they tell you to do for kneading.  Not a good start CP,  dough and risotto are the 2 things that will really test this machine.  I remember hearing of someone who did the original EDC version of risotto (since changed) and blew up busted their machine - that's with the powerful motor that we have.

Very interesting. I went for a look yesterday, and thought they looked pretty good for the money. Of course I agree TM is much better and will last heaps longer, but... how can Vorwek justify TMX being 7 x the price? I think they need to consider reducing the price and they will get heaps more volume in sales. Most of my friends want one, but all have young kids and only 1 or 1.5 incomes and just manage to pay the mortgage. I won't be hosting demos for a while I think, even I can't think of enough reasons to justify the prohibitive cost of thermie.

The cost in my eyes is justified as it is the only machine of its kind on the market from the type of motor to all its functions to high quality material... Its like asking for a rolls for the same price as a middle of the range vehicle or something then it loses its high end appeal, functionality and most of all would not be able to do everything it claims to. As costs would have to be cut and it wouldnt be the same machine.if people cant afford it then they cant afford it.. Not everyone can afford everything.. Its always been the case and they do try to accommodate those that cant outly afford it with payment plans.. As well dont forget it is imported and they dont skimp on transport or any thing else either.. Here everything is sent via ups and not just thrown in the post.. People have to stop wanting everything for so much less as thats why so many countries are overloaded with crap made in china... One day thats all we will get.. Personally i think the thermomix is worth every cent..

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/companies/gerard-family-breaks-silence-on-five-year-old-tax-scandal/story-fn91v9q3-1226108588430

Maybe they are looking to make a quick buck? ;)

As I said Frozzie just a few clicks or taps and there are a few more stories about this company and their PRODUCTS . A lot of information  in the public domain for those of who love to do their research before buying anything.. If they have product failure and product recall in the past then  you can bet it will be the same in the future. Still all warnings won't stop some people buying  cheap rips offs for all the reasons you mentioned.

I  have to say though that not everything made is China is crap. Take for instance,  the iPad a beautiful well made and expensive product.   The integrity of the company is the important thing .

Very interesting. I went for a look yesterday, and thought they looked pretty good for the money. Of course I agree TM is much better and will last heaps longer, but... how can Vowerk justify TMX being 7 x the price? I think they need to consider reducing the price and they will get heaps more volume in sales. Most of my friends want one, but all have young kids and only 1 or 1.5 incomes and just manage to pay the mortgage. I won't be hosting demos for a while I think, even I can't think of enough reasons to justify the prohibitive cost of thermie.

If you could buy the Thermomix in Target it would be much cheaper. It is all about  the marketing. The same with Tupperware, which is where Vorwerk got it's  direct selling  strategy as well as having a financial interest in that company. Indeed at one time Tupperware was actually sold in  Target stores in the US. Now you will sometimes see  Tupperware sold in kiosks  in shopping malls.  The same here. Tupperware is a quality well made product with a lifetime guarantee but these days has a lot of competition.

I have actually seen  the Thermomix  in a sort of mini demo in my local shopping centre. Not an easy thing with no sink or water available.  The look of plastic buckets  filled with clean and dirt water is not so pretty  or practical but still you got to see the machine in action without having to go to a strangers home for for a demo.

Direct selling will always make the product  more expensive as everyone  in the tier or pyramid  takes a portion of the profit with the lowest and broadest on the bottom  getting a small amount each. That it why the consultants have to sell sell, sell to make a living wage and they have to recruit In order to move up the rung. You can't be a group leader unless you have a group to lead can you?

Like anything we buy there is the cost of the product and the cost of  the marketing.

I really  hope those who buy the Bellini get some satisfaction from it.  If not then get the money back and put the $269 in the Thermomix fund.

It was a generl comment gert but the majority of stuff that comes out of china is imo crap.. Even some brands who have a reputation and like so many have Outsourced their production to china and the like have lost out in quality and it is starting to become a problem.. They arent lasting like they normally do.. This is just starting to be noticed here.. And is becoming a big problem.. Its becoming very hard to find anything locally made which is exactly what people are looking for again (here anyway)

As for tupperware yes they once sold in target in the us and that is what killed their business in the us as did the selling tupperware online in the states.. I dont think its fair to say its a pyramid type scheme that makes it more expensive... There is alot of money involved in researching materials and new products snd along with the name comes a certain respnsibility if they want to remain selling in the same price range.. I know for a fact how much testing is done with a company like tupperware and although yes expensive they are way ahead of the many other copies on the market which is why they are still killing in sales after so many years and im sure i. Years to come vorwerk will still be going strong and all the cheap knock offs will have come and gone.. What keeps them anead and dictates their prices is research and development of new products and obviously established brand ame to a certain extent.

This all comes down to personal idea of quality and value for money... Fact is the majority of people want something for nothing which is what pushes companies to outsource production in the first place...electronic products never have to last long as they are updated with new versions every 18mths on average so often they are outdated long before they have a chance to wear out..i agree that even if made in china or similar it does come down to companies integrity in part..

Everyones view of quality is different depending what they are exposed to.. Some people have no idea what is quality and what isnt and no price isnt an indicator of quality just often for obvious reason they go hand in hand..

This discussion is a bit of a can o worms lol!!

hey peeps.  :)
my gl did a whole lot of research on this and the stuff she found puts all us consultans at ease. 8)
no scales.
speed only goes to 7000 not 10200
heating is to high at 140
the company in banned in europe after a law suite from vorwerk in germany in regards to the steamer and heating elements.
they have had countless recalls of products
the warrenty is with target not the company that makes it
the case is made of cheap and nasty plastic
and if anything goes wrong with it theres no service for it.

basicly you get what you pay for and it $260 dollars of cheap nock off technology. :-\

Hi kathleenm!  Well, that kind of sums it up . . thank you for posting this all in a nutshell - and thanks to your GL, too  I'm sorry, but until China lifts its game and puts  much needed quality control in ALL their products (you should see a forum on Amazon about M-I-C products - from nuts and bolts to everything else)- nasty cheap and fall-apart stuff. - sorry Just can't find the link right now)  I try to steer as clear as possible.  Strangely enough, anything out of Germany seemed pretty good to me . .. and then along came TMX!!  (Well, at least my awareness of it. . . ;D) You do, in most cases, get what you pay for . . . . . .  .

Frozzie, I totally agree with you.

Maybee people with buy the bellini, take it back and save for a TMX.

I had a look in Target this morning, there were 3 there.

All the boxes had been opened and resealed with sticky tape.  There was a sign saying there weren't any recipe books in the boxes but recipes can be found on line or will be available at a later date.

Sounds like TM have demanded their recipes to be removed and so Target have been ordered to remove the books from every box.
Just my assumption though.

Does anyone know if they jugs of the knock-off fit into the Thermomix?   I'd really love a new jug but at the cost of $400.00 it's too much?

As to the recipe books, a person on another forum sent a question and received this reply:

I am terribly sorry to advise the recipe booklet is incorrect there is no reverse function
A new recipe booklet is being produced and will be available on the bellini website in the next 14 days
my sincere apologies

Well this has definitely been an entertaining read (along with the thread on the Simple Savings site).  I have to say that we have two Thermomixes in our house and I wouldn't part with either... nor would the other half!  That said, we bought a third last Friday, secondhand locally.   It was rather tempting to use all three but one was a gift for a friend who really needs and desperates wants one but couldn't afford new.   ;)

She was with me from my first demo over 2 and a half years ago and every single one since!  It was a no brainer.  I don't regret buying it for her for a second.  She certainly is ecstatic and relieved now that she has one in her kitchen!  8)

Oh and here's (http://eatsewlove.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/road-testing-bellini-intelli-kitchen.html) another review of the Bellini for those interested!  ;D

Definitely haven't given up Frozzie! Unfortunately I had to go to the dentist today and I'm currently working but will have another go over the weekend. I'm really not worried if it doesn't work because Target will refund the money without a problem. I've got my fingers crossed that it will work out tho, cos it would suit my situation perfectly. If it doesn't, I will probably buy a TC, but having forked out for 3 TM's I just don't think I could afford another TM quite so soon  :D

Well I'm kind of encouraged today.  My daughter in law texted me that she made her own chicken nuggets today with "the new machine".  Made her own chicken mince etc.  she said it wasnt as easy as opening a frozen packet and heating in the oven but that she knows exactly what's in them and they were tasty. That made me happy. Then my daughter (with the 6 children) said she was going to have a go at making bread either tonight or tomorrow.  I hate the thought of them eating crap bread so that made me happy too :)

I do hope that the people who buy them can make the most of them, it sounds like they are a great option for people who can't afford the whole thermomix.

I was talking to my DH about it and it's a lot like someone buying a cheaper android tablet you can do a lot with one as opposed to someone buying the top of the range ipad.  They both satisfy a need at the time.

Has anyone been able to look at the jug on the knock-off and see if it fits the Thermomix?  I'd love for another jug for Pierre  :)

Trust me french factory workers are not mistreated.. They take work hours, pay and retirement very seriously and are hardly overworked so have no worries there.they are however forever on strike and asking for more money etc..not necessarily the vorwerk factory but workers in general of this kind.. I should see if its possible to check out the site..😊

the bellini jug is unlikely to work in the thermo even if it fits as of course TM has its superior induction cooking, special motor and special blades, cant see just being able to plop a bellini jug in and expect it to work with all that technology ;)

I have purchased a second hand thermomix 21 online for my weekender.

My biggest concern would be the blades staying sharp, a lot of these cheap machines have inferior parts.

It's a shame it's such a blatant rip off, I've had quite a few girlfriends smuggly say 'oh, did you targets catalogue?!', ahem, yep, and I'd still take my Porche over the Hyundai any day ;)

I'd love to hear more from those who have purchased one!

Interesting reading keiramax.
I loved reading the excititement and hype of this machine.....then graduating down to doubts and disappointment.....oh well, there is a reason why it's so cheap.
We seemed to be mocked on a few places, apparently we don't realise appliances will be copied and reproduced  cheaply on the market  :-))
.....well ultimately the results will speak for themselves, and if you really want the real thing, start saving.....dont bag us for enjoying cooking with it, and sharing our passion.

It was very intereresting reading, you just feel as if you want to step in there and defend the TMX but why bother, it wouldn't convince them anyway as they have pre-conceived ideas about us as owners.  Wonder how long it will take for this subject and product to die down - the TC caused the same stir but haven't heard of too many problems with that.  I couldn't believe one person sold her TMX and bought the Bellini  :-))

Well there is no need to see what other ppl are saying about us and we really could care less. It is all about having confidence.

It does however  sadden me that one person sold her underused TMX  to buy the Bellini. You have to feel sorry about  that but really happy for the one who was fortunate to buy it and hopefully at a  good price. I think the ThermoChef could a better option for those who want  something that blends and cooks.

Too funny about some cookbooks being removed and others in the box. Someone didn't get the memo. The ones without the cookbook are probably better off as they will come here to ask  and get the good info.

Funny how some people think this is an Australian Forum. Sorry MM.

Still I am not laughing and hope ppl are ultimately happy with their buy. For some the $265 was a very big deal and we have all been there I expect.

I am laughing about the person who imported their TMX from Spain for $800 cheaper.  My DH is in Malaysia  at the moment and asked me if I wanted a second one as he can buy it up there for  an unbelievable price. Said he would toss it in the overhead rack. I told him he would have to check it because of the blade and he withdrew the offer. Pity.  He must have had a senior moment as all his life he has been in the airline industry and specialised in dangerous and hazardous freight not to mention the latest  carry on board policies. He did not tell me the price and I didn't ask but he would not be interested if  it was  much more than $1000  so  probably between that and $1400. I know he has LIMITS !  ;D ;D  I am sure the Malaysians have quite a different  selling stragedy and are more flexible  not relying on just home demos.  You could probably buy one on line from them but the postage might be hefty. Good point goldfish but it would have to be a very cold day in hell before my DH ever checked a bag into the hold of an aircraft. He has been travelling by air for over 60 years  and has never checked a bag. For  that matter neither have I. Never lost one either. LOL! Remember it has only been since 9/11 that the rules changed for carry one luggage so it was much easier to carry stuff like bottle openers in the past. Thank goodness for screw top wine bottles now. Pity about carrying the Swiss Arm Knife. I do miss it.

I had to say I lterally fell about laughing when I saw the photo of the kitchen plug on that thread. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe and had to use my puffer  >:( but it was very funny. Reminded me of the time that my MIL cooked a casserole with the bar of yeloow dish soap in the pot. She accidently picked it up with the vegies that she had cut into the sink. The casserole was totally inedible. It's funny now, but at the time she had six kids and a farmer hubby and they were really broke, so it was a very bad mistake to make.

Tried to get a look at these new wonder machines today; apparently every store in WA is sold out. It will be interesting to see whether the next batch have the faults fixed. I would buy my Mum one as a pressie if she wanted one...she could take it in the caravan and not worry about it.

The sink plug probably worked very well to keep the soup moving from the base and stopped it getting the burn marks everyone else seems to have trouble with.

The first time I used TC it just caught a little on the bottom,  Just brown.  I was making a custard for icecream.
It has never done it again.
I wondered if it is like seasoning a new pan.  Often new pans stick far more than ones that get a lot of use.
And TC gets a lot of use.

Had a read and as stated these people one cant afford a thx and two by the sounds of it dont like to cook much either... If you arent a fan of cooking then a thx will never be suitable.. If you cant cook but want to thats a different story... Bottom line each to their own and like previously stated not e eryone can afford a thx but if i was them id invest in the thermochef and not the bellini.. At least the tc holds its own in what it can do and isnt claiming to be the same as a $2k machine as they put it lol..

For those that have bought it here have you had the burning problem??

Cant believe someone sold their thx to buy a bellini.. Thats just sad..oh well...

Somehow i think she will regret it given all the burnt dishes occuring!!  Pity her thx was never being used either with mainly used for baby food and custard????

Each to their own but i have never regretted owning a thermomix and im forever amazed at what Else he can make.. Seems endless possibilities..

What would concern me is it has been banned in germany and there is question around the danger of materials used... Think tc will do well out of this as those not wanting yo or unable to invest in a thx will opt for the tc or even better a second hand thx.   At least no burning spots and it can make bread etc.. It depends also what you expect the machine to do.. If its to replace a blender then fine but for those who assume that it is the same as a thx then its those people who will be very disappointed.. If you read the beginning of that thread they are all excited that this new machine is just like a thx lol... Urrmmm no.. Then slowly realise its not.  Bit scary the blocked blades and the max speed 3 on heat ??? I would be curious to hear if other are having the same issues??

Yes, despite the statements that they didn't expect it to be as good as a Thermomix, that's pretty much what they were saying on bubhub at the start of the conversation-defensive much?! Those poor thermomix supporters are not being given much courtesy  >:( And despite what the pro-bellini team seem to suggest, we are not all rolling around in money. Many owners have saved for a long time to get one and view it as a lifelong purchase. We are a one income family but prioritised buying one over a holiday/daily cups of coffee/dinner out etc. What a throw away society we have become  :-\. And as good as a thermie is, would I be happy to buy one with no recipe book or instructions-no way! That's the worst part of it all in my eyes.

As you know we are a big family of 7, with one main income and buying a TM was not an easy thing to do. But after 14 months of having my TM I can confidently say that we have already saved more than $2000 of savings from buying pre made foods and take aways.

I am so happy that I did take that step to buy a TM, and have never even once regretted the purchase.

I do wish the TM was a bit cheaper for more people to benefit though.

And I am sad for those who have purchased the Bellini and are disappointed in what it can and cannot do.
Maybe the problems that people are having can be worked out with some tweaking (I hope so anyway)

Anther who thought about a thermomix for quite a while. I am one, if I get something, and don't love it, will move it on. The thermomix has stayed. And there is no denying you would get a good return on the resale, but there is no way I could sell my precious!

And I'm not even using it to it's full potential, I look foward to when the kids are a bit older and experimenting more!

I agree, if you don't like cooking, I can't imagine why you would buy a thermomix?!

if u hate cooking thermi is perfect cos u just put the stuff in and walk away dont have to think about it. but then again everyone is diffrent in there style and liking of cooking.

i cant believe someone who already had the TM would sell it for lesser product. she had the best and now has the w..... umm the not so best ......  :P

I ABSOLUTELY hated cooking and COULDN'T cook before TMX ... so yes it still does suit you even if you have totally zero interest in the kitchen  ;D.

It is the best thing to enter my kitchen and when my family look at what I cook now and the knowledge I have gained (mainly from this forum) we are all amazed!!  :)

without a doubt the TM has changed my families lives. We thought we ate healthily before, but we have certainly improved on that concept and the good thing also is my kids have loved the food we eat, and we have had a lot of fun and taste testing along the way. I am not going to write off the Bellini for a couple of weekend dishes tho when I head down south until I have tried a few things. It seems from reviews there is a problem with heat - like the TC, so I will tone it down and see how it goes. I haven't switched it on since the error message, so I do hope it goes on ha ha. I am not even going to look in the Bellini recipe book cos I have the F&E and lots of TM recipes at my fingertips to try. (Today I could have probably tried the B, but I just wanted to do things in the TM for ease sake. I have plenty of time to return it if its not doing the job its meant to).

Anyway, I just spotted Grace in this little video (http://video.news.com.au/2210162580/The-wonders-of-Thermomix) which is dated March 15th. Interesting timing to get Thermomix featured at The Australian, don't you think? Almost looks like a reaction to the Bellini being 'in the news' around these parts  ;)

I am shocked that someone would sell their TM & purchase the fake.  :o ??? :o

I can understand people buying the fake due to price, bit it does doubd like its a waste of money.

I think we would have clawed back our $1939 investment within the yeat. 1st year Anniversary coming up this month.

When I Menu plan the food bill is down by  $100 each week. Bread is a huge saving, $1.50 to make as opposed to anything from $3-$6.

Being on this forum has encoraged me to buy in bulk.

We eat yummy food without presevatives, I know what  goes into our food.

Wouldnt be without one, I woukd love another TM.

German engineering, what can I say. My car is vw, miele oven & dishwasher, our ducted vacum system is german.

It is cringe-worthy.....and shame on target for putting out there a below average product, to cash in and make a buck.....there will be many dissatisfied customers.  If a TM is out of the budget, a thermochef would be a much better choice.
The best outcome would be for the likes of Breville/Sunbeam etc., to produce a similar product, that will actually have quality control, and have done their homework, actually using the machine and creating and testing their own recipes, before putting it out there on the market.

Commonsense would tell you that if you take a cheap stainless steel pan, put it on a cheap and nasty element, turn the heat up to  120 degrees then you will  get burning  even if you stir it constantly with a wooden spoon.

There are some Thermomix 21 for sale on ebay and that may be a better option  than even the ThermoChef. At least they have withstood the test of time and still look good, perform and well because people who cook value them and have most probably ugraded to the TMX 31.

Ultimately you should be getting a product that performs as it states,  regardless if you spend $200 or $2 k.
It's what the consumer is entitled to.
I really hope it does get sorted, or at least an equivalent product, thats in a realistic price backet for most people.
No one should have to be scrubbing scorched jugs when you cook with heat.

The Australian company responsible for the Bellini should shoulder some of the responsibility don't ya think? After all they must have commissioned the manufacturing of it. I think they sell all their Bellini products through Target. As a shareholder in Wesfarmers  I am not happy to sell crap that is returned .  Don't care so much about the crap that sells and works though. LOL!

Don't worry about the spending. Life is short . So let us know if you find anything interesting. Last time I was in SIngapore  I found there were no bargains but some different stuff. I bought nothing as I am not a shopper. Eating is my thing. I love the food  and wine stores. Have no interest in clothes or stuff. Singapore is  so easy to get around these days. A bit different from my first trip there in 1965 when we stayed a Raffles and could actually afford it.

Enjoy.

Buyer beware eh?  Glad I took that photo. Oh and someone on another forum said I "sneakily" took those photos which is  a blatant lie. I was moving all around Target employees restocking the shelves holding my iPad  at arms length and shelf height. If they did not see what I was doing they must have been blind. Also I took the machine all apart and moved the pieces while one Target employee actually moved some boxes to help me. Very nice they were too. It is amazing how some people do not read and more do not listen and interpret what they want like a game of  "gossip"!  Laughed out loud at that comment.

I would love to put a comment on eBay telling people the real price of that machine. And what  about the person selling the spatula that came from Helene's site  for more than you can buy it directly from  superkitchenmachine. And it comes from Canada?   I suppose some people are gullible enough to do it

Gert.
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: maddy on March 18, 2012, 10:01:33 pm
Gert, the target employees wouldn't care less, and honestly we all have the right to thoroughly inspect a product that is on the shelves for sale.
:P I'm a real pain, and get them to plug the display products in and show me how they work.

eBay can be a fantastic place to source rare and h.t.f. Items, but you still  need to do your research....it's a big play ground for a lot of rogues too  >:(
Remember the same happened with the Aldi expressi.....people were paying high prices on ebay because they couldn't wait for the shelves to be restocked......which I do own one and love, so that proves I'm not an appliance snob  :P

for such a friendly forum we seem to be getting a bit of a reputation out there in 'other forum land' as being old biddies, snobs and wanting this other machine to fail so we can feel better about our purchase!!
guess they wont be wanting to use any of the recipes or advice from our forum members then

i think we all realise the bellini has its place and i think most of the upset started with the ripped of recipe book!

I think it's hilarious the 'reputation' the forum seems to be getting. I think we feel for the folks that have bought the Bellini more than anything else. We certainly welcomed TC owners and will welcome other owners should they wish to join us.

I've actually written this at the  Perth airport on the iPad. We are all checked in etc and simply waiting round now until we board in about 15 minutes or so. We're on Qantas wifi at the moment. Hopefully we'll pick up some in Singapore.

Oh dear....it seems the risotto was a complete disaster  :-\
Returning and replacing the units is fine, but I would think this problem will keep occurring until they use thicker, better quality steel for the jug...and possibly re-think the heating element......a real shame, as many people have a renewed interest in cooking, and this experience will tarnish that.
I think $ 269-400 is An expensive appliance just to make dips/sorbet/ or anything else that does not require cooking.

LOL....no it doesn't Baf......you are not saying you got a machine exactly  like a kitchenaid, for only $148  ;)   it's the product we were questioning, not the people  ;)
Have never heard of it Baf, but hope it works well for you.

Judy.....I admit I still like making some of my cakes with the mixer.....particularly any of the crabapple bakery ones....they just do not like being converted to the TM!  >:(

LeeJ....I bought the "Pizza Maker" the black one.  We often throw veg, left overs whatever on a pita base or dough.  My oven is large, so it takes a long time to heat up or grill, so in under 3 mins, I can have pita pizza's ready, or any grilling needed, I place it on greaseproof paper....much quicker  ;)
with this model, you get a deep dish for frittata's, omletes etc....but I haven't used that yet.

I do have one, and I'm really happy with it.  I only have lattes, and I found the Milano pod (no. 10) the best flavour.
My previous machine used pods from Italy, and cost me 3 times as much, with added postage.....and the flavour is exactly the same as the Aldi Milano, so win win  :)

I find the whole notion that Bellini owners feel this need to continually comment, on several different forums, about TMX owners feeling as though they need to justify having spent $2K when they have spent under $300, entirely ridiculous.  It is simple, you get what you pay for.  If they can only afford a Bellini, then go ahead and have fun learning and experimenting.

Having said that, I would be worried that there have been sooo many issues with basic things, like the recipes in the boook not working.  I read on one forum a response that they received from the Bellini company in relation to the recipe failures.  Their response was that they (the company) are urgently working on the recipes, and in the meantime, reduce the heat to combat the burning - nothing about cooking times which would also need to be adjusted.  It is this sheer unprofessional business practice that is incredible.

We love our Thermie, and the professional reputation that comes with something that has stood the test of time - through various upgrades/adjustments etc.  I don't care that there are other machines that supposedly "do all that a TMX does", because we are happy with our little man!!  I just hope for the sake of those who are now Bellini owners, that the company stands up and comes good with fixing the "teething" problems, and that the machine is safe for use.

The very idea that the company responsible for the Bellini is 'urgently' working on recipes is ludicrous. We all know how hard and long that process is, developing, testing three times, printing etc..  Not a doubt in my mind they have some poor bugger ripping off our recipes and adapting them as we speak. I wonder that anybody cooking their food at 120 degrees is thinking that is beneficial nutritionally as well as machine wise.  People think the next shipment is going to be improved and  you can bet that ain't gunna happen. That container load is probably on the high sea already and steaming for Australia.

There is plenty of information about this company in the public domain If anyone is really interested. If you do not heed the warnings then you cannot then complain afterwards about their methods.

I can understand people selling their Thermomix  if they need the money but more likely they keep it in the cupboard and never really learned how use it properly.  How many of us  never use our varoma?  Once you start to you never put it away as it is  so versatile. Thermomix users are generally people who love cooking and are willing to learn new methods that save us time and money. Plus all the wonderful healthy eating cooks like Quirky Jo give us so many ideas outside the square.  Seems every mother and child these days has some sort of food issue and  the Thermomix being  a virtual lifesaver.

It would be wonderful,it there was a 'real' competitor on the market  but that is not the Bellini Intelli Kitchen Machine. Pity.

And other crap Hally. Some of that bread is so wet it goes moldy here in a few hours. Nothing like homemade bread and so much cheaper as well as being easy.  Maybe not for a big family though.

I find the whole notion that Bellini owners feel this need to continually comment, on several different forums, about TMX owners feeling as though they need to justify having spent $2K when they have spent under $300, entirely ridiculous.

Actually I find it insulting and indicative of the narrowminded and meanspirited undertones of comments from some members of other forums. While some of us may be a little obsessed with our thermies  ;D ;D this forum's members show a wonderful generosity of spirit in their sharing of recipes, ideas and other useful info. Also I find this constant obsession with price only tiresome. There are other important factors such as quality, reliability, expected life of the purchase and benefits (like health benefits) to consider. Some of the current processed/packaged stuff masquerading as food is really not fit for human consumption and don't get me started on salt, sugar and other additives, not to mention GM "food".

While I'm up here on my soapbox....   Just to put things in perspective, as far as costs go, when I purchased my thermie I expected it to pay for itself (in dollar terms) in about 2 years, based on a saving of about $20 per week in food expenses for a family of 5. (DH assured me the thermie was superbly engineered and would survive the perils of my kitchen for many years.) I also expected immediate reduction in the time I spent in the kitchen cooking and baking for the family. (I have never been a fan of packaged, processed or takeaway food.) And that is before considering the huge benefits of not having to eat processed/packaged food.

In fact, my expectations were way too modest. By taking advantage of all the great recipes and other info here on this forum, thermie paid for itself in less than a year (well about 9 months actually) :) :) :)  And, as many others have commented here, preparing a huge range of foods is not only possible but quick and easy. Money very well spent and well worth saving for. (End of rant ;D)

BTW Love, love, love this forum :-* :-* :-*

I don't think $2000 is a lot to spend on a cooking appliance that will last years. :)

How much do we spend on dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers and they only last a couple of years. I am buying a new washing machine this week.

I have a kitchen aid as well, but I use it for larger cake mixes.

You do get what you pay for.
Also surprised not many cafes / coffee shops have a thermomix.

I wish I could say the same. I love my thermomix although with all the lovely new thermomix cookbooks I have purchased and tried loads of new recipes I think my food bill has gone up. We probably eat out less now and more healthily. The time in the kitchen has probably gone up too but it is time that is relaxing (except when trying to make puff pastry) and enjoyable to me. I don't regret for moment purchasing thermomix and I have had no complaints from Hubby either.

Wow! I go away for a couple of weeks and look what happens! Have been reading this thread with interest - I actually first heard of this machine today at my Varoma demo. One of my guests mentioned it - she's a TMX owner so she was understandably a little scathing about it.
I researched the TMX thoroughly before I decided to purchase (this forum was the clincher I think  :)), and I would do the same for a $400 appliance; so there's no way I'd buy the Bellini when it's only been on the market a few weeks. I'd want it to be thoroughly tested, reviewed and demonstrated that it would last. Those who have purchased one have been ripped off IMO because the company selling it have claimed that it's just like the TMX so they rushed in to buy it without doing the research, thinking it would be OK because it's comparable to a quality product like TMX.
Looking forward to reading the reviews when I have more time.

Apparently target posted on their FB page a reply saying that the new machines Coming in have a software update to prevent burning?? Huh?  What would that do?  I would have thought they needed to fix the distribution of heat?  Either that or improve the mixing of food (again design). I suppose they could turn down the heat or increase blade speed in the programming, but I would think you would just change the recipe book (especially since they are doing that anyway).

Oh for those that bought one- apparently you can exchange for the updated version, of you think that would help.

Funny you should mention that nekhbet as I did post on FB a query about the "software" update and they removed it so I posted again. I wonder if I will get deleted again?

There was also a posting on another forum that said this shipment of Bellini's was supposed to go to The US but was rejected on safety grounds. Now that is just  not true.  There is a lot of misinformation and these days you cannot believe everything your read much less see what with the about of photo shopping going on.

Let me see now what I can do about my wrinkles. LOL!

Well you won't find it here. I had to go back through my posts to find it here.

It was a Jaimie Olivers bread recipe.

It uses a kilo of flour so it will make a huge one. And it rises and rises and rises.

Have a look at the photos Hally posted.

Hello! This is my first post here on the TMX forum. I've had my TMX a few months and like all of you, love it to bits! I've been following the Bellini saga with obsessive interest - it's better than most soap operas! - and have to agree with a PP about the meanspirited comments regarding TMX owners etc. My sister had asked me what I thought about the Bellini as, like many others, she can't afford a TMX at the moment, but at $270/$400, it's still an expensive purchase for her so I said I'd look into it, hence my new hobby of seeking out Bellini reviews!

I had a bit of a :o moment tonight, which I thought I would share. I noticed on another forum that Bellini has a link to its new recipe book (http://www.belliniappliances.com.au/electrical/documents/BTMKM510%20-%20Kitchen%20Master%20Recipes.pdf) ..... but when I had a look at it, not only were the recipes less than inspired and the ingredient lists are incomplete (no surprises there), but the photos they use to illustrate the recipes are stock images from an online repository (www.shutterstock.com)!!!

It amazes me that a company can provide a recipe for what is essentially a berry sorbet (p 5 of the recipe book) and yet include a stock photo of a peach sorbet (http://www.shutterstock.com/cat.mhtml?searchterm=sorbet&search_group=&lang=en&search_source=search_form&x=15&y=10#id=60437506 .... which incidentally has been used on other websites - I did a quick google image search!). The other thing that amuses me is that this isn't even the nicest photo they could have chosen!!

If they can't be bothered photographing their own food, they can't have too much confidence in their recipes. Ha ha, what am I saying, the first cookbook was just a shambles and it takes longer than five minutes to put another one together.

ETA: Their photo on p4 not only does not resemble the recipe, but it's ripped off from a blog (which has great looking recipes!): http://www.mybestdaysever.com/sweet-corn-fritters/ Now that's shameless!!

Hi Greengoddess! . . and welcome!  Your sister is very lucky I think to have sought your opinion.  It would have been so disheartening to have spent hard earned dollars on what appears to be a very dodgy appliance.  The full price for a Thermomix is a hefty amount all at once.  Would the time payments be an option for your sister . . . or do you think she would consider becoming a consultant?  For what it's worth, I do think it would far better to hold out for the real deal rather than to lose money on inferior and unreliable "investments."

Good luck! - and thanks for the post - great combination of the internet - and those  :o  moments!!. . . . ;)

Quite frankly I think buyers would be better off signing up for the payment plan for $15 per week. Bellini just can't be expected to produce what a German engineered product can do!
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: Gertbysea on March 22, 2012, 10:40:33 pm
Green goddess it is good to hear from you. Perfect example of how useful the Internet can be for researching.  Also good example about not believing everything you see and read on the Internet. If anyone believes that GSM has any  real interest in providing a serious cookbook for the Bellini then they  must be dreaming and have no idea what is involved.

I have noticed that  some bloggers are stealing images  of food from our very own Thermomix bloggers and passing them off as their own.  It is not very hard to trace these photos to the original postings so they should be aware.  Posting recipes without acknowledgement is bad enough without then stealing images. That is pathetic as well as lazy. Plagiarism is rife but easy to detect when whole sentences and paragraphs are lifted from other peoples work.  Sad to say this is  happening in our little Thermomix world.  I recently spotted an entire blog post lifted from one prominent Thermomix blogger in one country  to a new  Thermomix blogger  in another country. Disgusting. What is the point?

Well done to you GG.

Hopefully mores machines/brands flood the market soon, I really want something like this

....and there it goes. So about a week on the market total. I'd imagine someone is losing their job over that debacle. I feel sorry for those that really want a thermy but can't afford one, but from all accounts, that thing wasn't even close.

Sorry that screen shots not clear. Just go to the Target FB page to get the story from the horses mouth. Obviously the person from bubhub has been sadly let down as well as misled.  The product is being removed not for copyright reasons but for being defective. As for destroying the machine, I doubt it. Probably will be sold in another market.  Ok call me a cynical.

It was only a matter of time.  We all know if something seems to good to be true - it usually is!  It's a fundamental fact of life that we all know to be true yet people still get stung by these things.  I also feel for all the people who bought this machine in good faith, even that price is a lot of money for some people and I hope they all get their money back without any hassles.

I would not rely on any person from any department in Target to actually know the truth. I would like to see an official statement in print first and one that can be verified.

The ThermoChef is a whole different machine and I have not heard any complaints about it to date. Anyone?

The legal issue could be anything but I doubt the machine would be withdrawn because of the cookbook as that is another issue all together.

Most likely they are sick of the whole thing and they have had too many returns. My guess is they are surprised at the reaction from the public.

I bet HO is wiggling them grass skirted  hips in delight at the publicity.

Someone says her jug even buckled. Shows how crappy the "steel" was. it did not look or feel like stainless steel to me. More like aluminum to the touch.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would want a copy of the Thermomix 21 when you can buy one on line for around the same price.

If HO were selling the Thermomix on line for a reasonable price then paying consultants to give a delivery demo they would save themselves a lot on infrastructure and the consultants a lot of angst. Would that work?

so...bellini hasnt recalled the product...target arent allowed to sell it due to legal ...so even if the product is still going to be avaiable who is going to sell it!! i am thinking Target arent going to want to run the risk again!  Maybe its because the steamer and the spatula are EXACTLY the same as the ones on the TM31 which is still under patent....whilst the patent may have run out on the TM21, that model didnt have that type of varoma
also seems stupid to buy something with the expectation of 'oh well i will take it back at some stage' ...!!!

let the saga continue its quite amusing!

My daughter had put one on layby the day the Target special came out.
I had started to worry when I saw all the reports on here, and other forums that it may not be the answer to her problems :(
Today she has sent me a message..
"oh i put the cooker on layby last week, paid the deposit yesterday and then received a call today from target to say that there had been a recall placed on it, and that they had to cancel my layby!'

So at least she won't have to go thru the saga of having it be faulty and return it.

I saw somewhere down this thread about the TM21.
What were these like?  And where could i get one for her.   Are they kid friendly?  She has a 14YO and 3 littlies.  The 14YO helps out a lot in the kitchen   :D   and the others try   :D
I can't afford the real deal TM31, or even a TC for her unfortunately. :-\

As you know I had a miserable fail when I tried to make bread on the first and second attempt. There was smoke and an E3 error message. I put the machine aside and was going to have a bit more of a play with it but I have just been too busy, and being a tad time poor have really only used my TM cos I know there is not going to be a failure. I agree that there has been blatant copyright issues and any company who has a reputable machine would not be so amatuer or unethical as to copy another machines recipe book word for word. I have rung up Target on the 1800 number and without hesitation the girl said that the money will be refunded so there is no problem there as I always knew there wouldn't be.  I always knew that the TM would be the better quality machine, but for a machine that was going to be stuck in a cupboard and used perhaps once or twice every couple of months when we visited our beach house the Bellini was a much more attractive proposition than lugging my TM 3 hours there and back for a day or so. Even a TC is quite expensive for this amount of usage. In some ways, I still want to give it a better trial before taking it back but I have it all packed up and the box is in the way. I regret even now giving in this early, and am not embarrassed to say I even want to hang on to it for another week. A second hand TM21 is out of the question for me, as I think that I would not pay that much money for an old machine. "Given the money" (lol) - if only!) I would prefer to have a 2 year warranty on a brand new machine and buy the TC as there has so far been positive feedback. Given the popularity of the TM and the technology and resources available, it is only a matter of time before there will be cheap and reliable machines available. Like so many good inventions, the original will be swallowed up and forgotten, and improvments made on the concept. Cooking with my TM has really improved our diets, and its a shame that more people cannot enjoy this way of cooking so I say "bring it on!"

I was wondering how you were going CP with the Bellini, well you have answered that.
At least you can get a full refund if you decide to take it back.
I do hope that Bellini come back with a better machine without the issues so more people can benefit from healthier eating without the huge price tag. I was tempted to buy one just to compare it with the TM (not that I needed one).
I'm sure this is just the beginning of what's to come, there are probably half a dozen machines out there being built and tested by different company's ready to hit our market sooner or later.

It is a shame CreamPuff  but it was worth a try.  Everyone's expectations were just too high. If it was  just a blender that cooked ok then that would have worked but  it was trying to be something  it did not have the technology for  and over priced at that.

I see some poor bugger has bid $406 plus postage on eBay. How crazy is that?

All the publicity has been invaluable to Thermomix though and the consultants can breath a sigh of relief.

It was an exciting week in our little world.

Gert.

I bought a secondhand TM21 for my Mum last year. It was $700

No problems with it at all. I sourced it from Melbourne, bought from a very well known restaurant who upgraded to TM31.
So they are out there, if you look.

My girls have all quite enjoyed usin the Bellini for most food processing but it is gutless for mixing bread dough. I told them about all the drama involved and said we can pack them up and take them back if they want and I'll buy them a thermochef or second hand thermomx each. They haven't really decided though yet.  I really just want them to be able to easily cook healthy meals without resorting to packages.  The Bellini has handled food processor type functions very well. They haven't tried cooking in them though yet.

Jude its good they are using them but a bit of a shame only as a processor... if i was you i would source either a second hand thx or he thermochef as you mentioned as they can handle bread and cooking dishes as well which is what the bellini is supposed to do... Plus if its the thermochef you know that there are several users on the forum also cooking with them and successfully.. Im obviously not for the bellini.. I find it dodgy and think its best people get their money back and buy whatever is affordable to them..

sounds like HQ are onto it!!

from Target facebook page!

To clarify - the product has not been withdrawn for safety related reasons. We are working through a legal issue which we hope to resolve as soon as possible and at this stage, we have no answer in regards to further stock becoming available. If you wish to discuss this further

Don't buy a Thermochef!  Wait and save the money up... I have had mind for a while now and even though it does the job I am starting to wish I had waited... the butterfly is annoying (I have blended one up and the store had a whole box under the counter to replace them - apparently happens alot) the motor can't handle any really thick dough (or the biscuit and condensed milk I was mixing for a slice), the stickers are starting to bubble and peel etc etc.  In saying that though I do love it... but you know sometimes I dream of the real thing...

Hi Everyone, I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I just saw this in the target catalogue. It's the Bellini Baby Food Maker. Certainly not competition with a thermomix, from what I can tell it steams the food in one part, then processes it in another. But given everything that's happened with Kitchen Master, and other products they've produced, I wonder if this will have any problems...

Hi Stacelee, my visit to you is news to me ??? although I will be over in a couple of weeks

I have read some reviews and it seems to be the same so far with a recipe book of only about 10 recipes. Same machine as the Maxi from Good Guys .  They are offering it to those who bought the first one at the same price of $299.  We will hear in a few weeks if it is improved .

If it has been improved it would be a good time for those who have the old one to get it replaced.

Just caught up with this very long thread.  It's so interesting to see a competitor in this very specific niche market (but sad to see that the Bellini is such a blatent copy).  I absolutely adore my Thermie and realise it is worth every penny I paid for it, but I admit that I really struggled with the price tag initially.   I saw this post from a Bellini-related blog, and it really reinforced to me that the TMX price tag just may have been worth it:
http://myintelliexperiment.wordpress.com/2012/08/31/and-like-that-she-died/ (http://myintelliexperiment.wordpress.com/2012/08/31/and-like-that-she-died/)

I do wonder though, how much more profit TMX could make if they lowered the price and enjoyed a massive increase in sales?
Title: Re: Look what Target has ....
Post by: obbie on August 31, 2012, 11:29:04 pm
Grace wont reduced the price of a TMX, as she is the only one distributor in Australia.

Otherwise you would buy one from overseas, and get it shipped here.

more competition  the better for consumers.. :)

I totally agree bellesy, surely a price reduction would result in a monopoly of the market for TMX. Nobody denies the quality of a TMX , it's the high price tag that puts people off and sends them to other copies.

Saw the SILs HMP last weekend..... sitting in her cupboard looking sad.  :(
Was interesting to compare - but only visually as she wasn't using it.
I loved the suction part, an excellent idea I reckon...otherwise (to put it in DHs words) "a cheap but blatent copy."
I'm still glad I have my TM...won't be trading it in on a HMP - tho I would love to try it out just cuz!  ;)

Hi all,

We have decided for fellow member "HotmixPRO" to be discontinued. The member in question was using this forum as a way to push the HMP machine. He/She has been warned before. This forum was created for Thermomix purposes, and we feel that we cannot allow for competitor products to be "promoted" here. I have suggested for the concerned member to start a HMP forum.

New rules concerning this issue will be posted this week. They have already been drafted :-)

I do hope that you understand this decision. If you need links to HMP website to find out more info, then please PM myself or our wonderful moderators.

For those few members that do own the HMP machine, do not worry. As long as you are not trying to SELL the machine, then you'll be fine.

Finally, of course you can continue to discuss openly about other products. This is a liberal forum. One thing for sure, Thermomix beats them ALL :-)

Happy Mixing

Admin and Co!

Could be that someone might start an HMP forum. Be handy.

That's perfectly fair. Hopefully, Stewart will look at starting a HMP forum. Tenina has some recipes for it too if people are keen. I would hope that eventually we can have ideas and recipes for all Thermothingy's on here without the actual promotion of one against the other.

Just another way that Thermomix beats them all: just spotted this blog post (http://dreamalittleblog.wordpress.com/2012/10/26/why-varoma-recipes-dont-convert-well/) by a former Bellini owner  :( who switched to Thermomix  :)... it seems the Bellini's Varoma steamer is not able to reproduce TMX recipes and the poor Bellini owners are stuck with raw food in their steamers. So sad but good that they are being warned.  ;)

I'm about to confess that I bought the jamie oliver homecooker from myers the other day.  I had a gift voucher that was about to expire and a 15% off email.  I hate my son using my thermomix because he never cleans it properly and he wants to do more cooking for himself now that he is about to finish school.  I was having visions of coming home from work and finding Tom's jug sitting in the sink every day (yelling at this kid doesn't work....he has skin made of indian rubber).  So far I think it is good....I've made mainly stew type dishes in it and am planning to try some chutney's and jams over the weekend.  I can post some more information about how I'm finding it if anyone is interested......I wouldn't replace my thermomix (or thermochef) with it but it has some characteristics that are better, but can't do everything the TM or TC can.

It has only just been released on the market here apparently.  Myers at Carindale had only just received it into stock.

Okay...here goes.  I like the concept of the cutting tower.....I've never been all that enthusiastic about the way that the TM chops vegetables, sometimes it is nicer to have sliced vegetables in stir fries etc.  It is raised up high enough to automatically put the vegetables into the cooking pot, although when I did onions I managed to put as many on the bench as in the pot....but that may have been because I didn't have it lined up very well.  It seems fairly well made and comes with five different blade inserts (from memory) and is dishwasher safe.

The cooking pot comes with a rice/pasta basket that sits into it and a steaming basket and tray that sits on top.  The cooking pot has a "stirrer" that sits on a central column that rotates on the heating base.  The pot doesn't rotate, just the column.  I'm not sure if it heats by induction.  The stirrer works well to move the food around without mushing it.  This is one of the things I prefer to the Thermomix.  I find that even backwards, the blades tend to break food up....and the thermochef doesn't have a reverse option at all.  It is also very good for browning...the temperature goes from 40 to 250C so you can get onion golden and meat browned.  I also like the fact that you can cook with the glass lid off which enables sauces etc to reduce easily.  The stirrer can also be turned off.  I was able to cook mushrooms and chorizo slices with the stirrer function on...meaning I could just ignore it...and then I turned the stirrer off and added eggs to the pan to fry them.

The pan scrubs up well and can go in the dishwasher...the pasta basket and steamer basket also go in the dishwasher.  It all stacks on top of one another and doesn't take up a lot of bench space.  The footprint on the benchtop is probably a little more than a large saucepan, ignoring the cutting tower.

I don't think that you would buy one instead of a thermomix if you were interested in doing more than making main dishes. As an addition to a thermomix it is great.  I made Beef Korma for dinner in the homecooker last night while I was using the TM to make a butter cake and then to cook rice to go with the Korma.  For a 17 year old with basic cooking skills, it will be ideal.  Being able to set a timer and temperature will make it relatively easy to use and he can dump the lot in the dishwasher.  It also will stop pots from being boiled dry on my gas cooktop when he forgets that he is cooking something and I will feel more comfortable that there is less potential of fire.

Have a look at the rules (Rule 5) girls - don't think MM wants prices of competitors discussed here.

5.3 It is forbidden to mention prices of competitor products and accessories in this forum. If people want to know prices of such articles, then please use private messages to each other. We reserve the right to amend this rule at any time, without giving notice. You may however quote prices on food/drink, recipes, and other general domestic products (kitchenware, household goods etc), that do not directly affect Thermomix and it's accessories.

5.4 Links and posts concerning direct competitor (non Thermomix) product sites, courses, recipes, meet ups etc are not allowed and will be removed.

5.5 You MAY chat about other competitor products, to give opinons and experiences. Posts on this subject will be closely monitored. Any that are deemed to be of commercial nature or biased against Thermomix, shall be removed. You may mention good points or bad points of competitor products, but please do not compare to Thermomix

I have had a look at the Kogan one online (Thermo Blend)  and it looks similar to TC but as it is a 'pre-order' they have very little information available about it yet.
Looks like the rice cooker may sit above the jug and not inside like the TM and TC.?  And the jug may be two piece?
I have contacted them to try to get some more idea of its potential.
Will let you know what more they have to say about it.
Not sure how much I can say tho with all the rule changes.  I don't want to tread on any toes.

Rosie, Rule 5 covers everything and says no links or prices but Rule 5.5 says You MAY chat about other competitor products so I can't see any harm so far.

A friend of mine has asked me if I think the Kogan product would be a good buy. Apart from the obvious answer to get a TMX and not waste time on the imitators, I said I would see if there was any comments posted on the forum, as I know the owners of thermochefs on here seem quite happy. If anyone has any feedback to offer I would be interested to pass it on.
Thanks.

I gave a Kogan ThermBlend to my daughter for Christmas.
So far she is very happy with what she has made with it.

I have both the Thermochef, Thermomix and a Kenwood Cooking Chef and I'm happy with all of them...although the Thermomix is the only one I would go out tomorrow and replace if it died.  The thermochef is good but I don't do heavier doughs in it as I have had it replaced once due to motor problems and it has been repaired once.  I don't think the motor is anywhere near as good as the thermomix.  My kenwood has had to go in for repair twice due to control board issues but as I bought one of the first ones on the market...it probably had a few bugs that they hopefully have now sorted out.  Kenwood were very good about repairing it under warranty even though it was well out of it.

One of our suppliers is now trying to sell the MyCook into the commercial market which should be interesting because to me it looks very Bellini like but they are actually pricing the RRP higher than the Thermomix so it will be very interesting to see how it goes.  Another suppliers is also about to release one to the Australian market....it is one that I'm itching to get my hands on....I've been promised that I will be allowed to play with one. Depending on what they price it at, it could be a real competitor, but I'm pretty sure its pricing will be higher then the TM.

I did read that someone was advised that the food is not toxic,  if you don't eat it   ???   :-\
I just hope people are aware, before they are consuming....although blue vegetables should give a hint.

Haha, yes, something else at the top of my wish list, but thought the Bellini might have been useful for sauces & custards etc while I save :)

It appears Target have halted selling them once again, I'm guessing until the blue dye issue is sorted.....it's now commonly known as the "smurf test".

Honestly, how many recalls or chances do you give a product, before throwing in the towel??
Many are on 3rd & 4th replacements with in 6 months.
I know there is a need for a thermo appliance in an affordable price range, but jeez....I am gobsmacked to read people are washing the steamer multiple times, just in the hope to stop leeching blue dye, so it can then be put to use.

Thanks Maddy for this info. It is really creepy and scary. Creepy that such a product could be sold here and scary that people may be eating food out of it.
