Date and walnut loaf (can any one tell me why you put the bicarb with the dates and boiling water?), Bean and lentil chilli and "Cowboy" beans (really, just some of the chilli with sausages and 'smashed' potatoes on top).
The hot water softens the dates and the carb works with the hot water and dates to turn the mixture brown,  I think!!
Thanks for the explanation Chookie.  I used medjool dates and the loaf was really dark, almost as if I had used treacle.  It was delicious.

DD is cooking spag bol at school for Home ec, she does not like cooking at all, unless it is something she really wants to eat.

I had to do all the prep for her last night. :)

I agree with Chookie re the softening of the dates and dark colour. I have my overnight SD rising today and I decided to try something different. I saw a rich dough with chocolate centres (for rolls) in a book. I didn't want the dough to be too rich so I made the No Fuss recipe with molasses and natural yoghurt in, I needed to add a little extra water. I have now made the rolls and put a frozen Reeses Peanut Butter cup in each. ( a mini one) I hope they don't pop when I cook them.

Had some Date and walnut loaf remaining so served it warm with TMX custard for Pud.
Yesterday made Almond crinkle biscuits and Tahini biscuits.  Busy week with visitors so wanted some on hand.
New little Chooks are laying like mad so will make My Favourite Quiche, posted.  This is a crestless Quiche. Will also make custard for Portuguese Tarts.

No cooking here today, a visit to the doctor to be told my pap smear was good and grocery shopping. The doctor did say I don't have to have anymore pap smears if I don't wish too. the time between is apparently now 5 years.
These are the rolls I made. I used the No Fuss recipe and replaced some of the water with a good squirt of molasses and about 80g natural yoghurt. When I was shaping the rolls I made them about 55g each. I flattened the piece of dough and put a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter cup (that I had kept in the freezer) in the centre.  I sealed the base up well and left the rolls several hours to rise again. They took quite a while as the peanut butter cups came from the freezer. I then cooked them for about 12 minutes.

Wow Cookie those rolls look delicious 😋 Great cooking everyone.👏
I've only made a loaf of bread. I did chop up some chicken breasts to marinate overnight in a sweet 🌶 sauce/garlic/🍈 juice/white wine/olive oil marinade . 😂

I read somewhere that if you put anything into a biscuit and cooked it, it should be put in the freezer to freeze so that it wouldn't just disappear into the dough. I tried it with the rolls and it seemed to work. I will do some biscuits one day.
