Greetings from Belgium!
« on: October 27, 2011, 08:18:41 am »
Hello Everyone :)  My Thermomix arrived Saturday afternoon and I have been trying out various things.  I am here in the Wallonian part of Belgium, but I bought my Thermomix from a Spanish dealer and have a cookbook in Spanish.  What I really enjoy is that the Thermomix weighs everything for me, so no more converting metric weights!  I'm interested in learning all sorts of recipes, especially Portuguese recipes.   I'm an absolute newbie to Thermomix, but love it!

Hello Kansa & welcome :)
Was it cheaper to get your TMX from Spain?
I'm sure it won't take you long to start converting any recipe!

Thank you for the great welcome, everyone!  I'm grateful for the Portuguese recipe links!

Carine, there were several issues which led to the decision to get the Thermomix in Spain.  One of the chief ones is that I speak Spanish and not Flemish, and my French isn't up to where I would need it to be either for the classes or for the recipes or further assistance.  The lady who sold me my TM was from Spain and she gives classes several times a year.  And, because of my work, I was able to get it VAT-free, which saved me 18%.

Hi Kansa and welcome.  I have a few recipe books on Portuguese cooking but they are not for the TM.  When I get more used to using mine (which I received only on Monday) I will try to do some conversions as we love Iberian food.  Hope you enjoy playing with your TM!

Hi and welcome kansa, oh you have lots of fun ahead of you with your new kitchen helper. You will soon learn (if not already) that we all love our TM's and would hate to be without them for to long at all.
Have lots of fun and if you need to know anything please just ask.

Wow, nice saving Kansa  :)  It would be interesting to see what recipes your Spanish consultant will give you.  Also interesting to see that the TMX is getting more popular in Spain..., land of olive oil based food  :)

I agree, they are massive in Spain and in fact it is from Spanish friends and websites that I first discovered the TM about 3 years ago.  No-one I knew in the UK had ever heard of them.
