Mab I know how you feel. We have one clock that we can't set, we have to wait for DD to do it. I would be happy with a normal clock in the bedroom but DH cant stand them ticking, or even clicking.

I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I could hear the ticking of a clock either cookie, I think the one in my bedroom might be making a faint sound but with my hearing I don’t hear it.  For an alarm clock I’m using one of those old type travel clocks which I’ve had for 58 years.  The case has fallen off but I just stand it up against the clock radio, I just find it so much easier to set and I trust it completely whereas the digital ones you’ve only got to forget to do something and you get caught out.

I agree with you both re instructions being impossible. I bought a digital cube radio from Costco and had no idea how to set it up.  I obviously fluked some of the stations but none that I’d listen to. It’s all too hard.

Loved the quotes you wrote Marina.

The good old travel clocks were the best Judy .
Well a lot of research to find a portable hot plate I ended up with Breville portable induction hot plate . Also a saucepan and a little fry pan and one pot that’s shallow with a lid . This was the best answer as we are still in Melbourne and I had a cooking issue with the stove so quick answer ! It’s not bad but boy does it heat fast ! Scrambled  eggs in seconds !! Fish was ok and then I perfected it with chicken tenderloins. Mind you the unit was a pathetic  price compared to the pots and oh why we have Themomixers .

No one can set the clock on my Meile oven. Not even the technician who came to service it. I find it really enjoying.

Why do manufacturers have to make things so hard ... what on earth can be so difficult about setting a clock that many of us cannot do it easily .. surely they can simplify this basic action ... it used to be all you had to do was press one or two buttons and everything was good, but no more.  Having said that, every time the clocks change DH has to resort to the instruction manual to remind him how to do it

Just lashed out and bought 10 aprons ... unfortunately not for me, all for work (but I will snaffle one for myself once the embroidery is completed).  I went out to the  manufacturers and they had a beautiful, peaceful, plant filled office and cafeteria; I was quite jealous as we are so cramped for space at work - I guess that is the difference between working way out in the 'burbs as opposed to near the CBD!

At a guess I would say it is handy for your business near the CBD Marina.

You are absolutely right, Cookie ... we would have no customers at all if we were out where that facility was ... nice to dream though!

I am too Chookie, but although I have lots of lovely aprons I hardly ever wear one. I should.

I have plenty too and I definitely need to wear one in the kitchen and in the garden.  Those with a big pocket at the front hold my mobile and my home phone when I’m in the garden so that I don’t have to run for the phone when it rings.  You rarely see a chef wearing an apron on TV cooking shows though.

I agree about aprons, I always wear one when cooking.

Another purchase for me yesterday, my old lap top finally died - it has been threatening for a couple of months now, but it finally gave up on me yesterday so I had to rush out and get a replacement.  Now I just have to get this new one up and running again, which is always a hassle.
