Life style change

I see people on here looking for particluar diets to lose weight.
There is no need to diet if you stick to a very simple food plan which is WHOLE FOOD PLANT BASE way of eating. I used to be a avid meat eater till this year, till i had some health problems.
Now i would not look back and with the help of the thermomix it has made it a lot easier.
I think i know what i'm talking about as i've done a lot of research into this and i've made a spread sheet on all natural foods available (still in working progress) that displays the Nutrients each food contains, so if you would like a sopy of it to help you in the right direction let me know and i can send it to you. Using this simple eating habit (not diet) i've lost 6kgs in in a few months with no exersice and you've got to love that.

Sounds good to me - though my doctor says I really need to exercise !!!

Thanks Craig. The western society has a diet way too dependant on wheat, dairy and meat products (not to mention then all he processed "foods").
I guess people look at particular diets because we're really looking for some easy simple information and perhaps even a bit of a plan to make the move less daunting. 
Sound like you've done some amazing research into this!  :) :)

Well i think to go the whole Vegan thing you need to understand what minerals and vitamins food contain so you don't do yourself any harm long term, especially when you have 2 young girls. My sister is on this stupid detox diet which will do her more harm than good and for some reason my mum can't have potatoes because of the sugar content but can have mangoes and oranges!!

Considering most GP's have no idea about nutrition i think it's about time people took some responsibilty in what they eat and stop looking for a quick fix. I've also read this amazing book called "The China Study" which has changed the way i think about food.

Being a avid meat eater till recently and thinking and saying i'll never give up meat, it was quite a easy transfer after reading this book and hearing the scientifc proof that was discussed in it.

So when we saw what this machine could do it was a no brainer to get one.

Until recently I've naively had faith in the food industry that what they produce must surely at least be safe, if not always healthy.  But I'm gradually learning more, reading, researching and making small changes that I feel are sustainable for me and my family.  So gradually taking control over what I consume through knowledge.

With a young family, I want to do my best for them, and TMX has been a big tool in that.  And this forum constantly makes me rethink ingredients and possible replacements.

Thanks for the tips and books to read.  I'll definitely check the library for that book.  Sounds interesting.

I have that book waiting to be read. Will pull it out as the next book,. Another great one is Michael Pollan's In Defence of Food an also waiting to be read is another of his books Omnivore's Dilemma.

Here is one of the web sites mentioned in his book. If you follow the eating habits of this Dr.Mcdougall you'll be garantedd to live a full and healthy life. Also there are heaps of great recipes on the forum as that could be converted over to using the thermomix with.

I have 'heard' that the China study is actually flawed, the way in which they conducted the research led to some inevitable conclusions. Don't quote me, but it may be worth looking into it a bit further.

I've read Michael Pollan's book In Defence Of Food, that was very interesting and an eye opener too. Maybe look up the Weston A Price foundation, they have a lot of information on whole, healthy and traditional foods. And another book that I found very interesting was Eat Fat, Lose Fat by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig. Sally Fallon is involved in the Weston A Price foundation.

I'm loving my TM because it really helps with a traditional, whole foods diet.  ;D

If really it does not need exercise then i am much interested in it as i am busy person and does not find time to exercise.

Chocolate is my weakness but I treat myself to the lint 70 percent cocoa once in a while.
