Sounds like you've done well to get all that done - might have been easier without an extra load of washing from DH's breakfast  ;)

I had grand plans of cleaning and washing today, but done one load of washing and that's it!  Oh, well, there's always tomorrow...

Phew, it was a busy weekend here:
DS's school gala on Friday night, my first ever craft market on Saturday (was good, but a little quiet, would have been nice to sell a bit more of course).  Then DS had a birthday party Saturday afternoon.  And kids Xmas party at the local working men's club on Sunday!!
And this morning was spent out at playcentre with DD (playcentre is a parent co-operative early childhood centre, and Monday is my day on team).

Was all great fun, but exhausted now.

Wow, I'm very impressed.

I have DD's party next Saturday, but my thermomix is only coming Fri night beforehand, so just keeping it simple (will def make sorbet though - a couple of her little friends have allergies too, but that will fit the bill.  And a couple of dips).  Will make her cakes (one for playcentre, one for the party) in my stand mixer, and then I'm giving it to Mum (for Xmas)!

But the week after that we are hosting our work Xmas party here - about 30-40 people!  Hope they don't expect toooo much.  There's a decent takeaway place around the corner though if all else fails!

Been a busy day here. DS's school gala is tomorrow, so baked a cake for that (still have to ice), baked a batch of muffins for a friend with sick husband and kids, and another batch of muffins for us (or the kds would not be happy).
Also am helping on the craft activity stall at the gala tomorrow so preparing stuff for that.
AND having my first stand at a craft market on Saturday, so trying to finish off the last few dolls nappies I have made.  Plenty more I would like to have done for it, but drawing the line there.
phew! What a week!

Mine are giving their craft pompoms a haircut (ie just making a mess really), and waiting for daddy to get home to help get them ready for bed.

I've made Sambuca melting moments in the past, but this sound MUCH better (not actually a big fan of aniseed, only made them for DH who loves it).  YUMMMMM better keep them out of reach of the kids though...  ;)

sure, a lolly cake, but it wouldn't be Lolly Cake  ;)
Seriously though, I have heard of pineapple lumps being used, but the eskimoes are more of a similar texture to the slice, and easier to cut.    Also tried one with dried apricots instead of lollies.  (sheesh, sounds like I eat it all the time!!)

DS(5) had school athletics today - not his forte but he had a great time. And we got the added bonus of seeing the eclipse during it - amazing the difference it made to the temperature while the sun was just partially blocked.  8) One of teachers brought a bunch of glasses so people could have a look.

And then miniball after school. Phew!

i want to make a  lolly cake now  :-))

thanks for finding the pic. that's them! Yes, a kiwi classic. I think I must usually make a double batch - whole tin of cond milk, which is why I thought it had more butter! (Freezes okay, or lasts a while in the fridge....if it gets a chance!)

Hehe, this looks a lot like the recipe for "Lolly Cake" - a classic kids party food around these parts!  Same basic recipe, by the looks (slightly more butter, I think!!), and then you mix in "fruit puff" or "eskimo" sweets (which look a bit like coloured marshmallows but are firm...not sure what overseas equivalent would be).
Then shape into a log and roll in coconut.  When cold, cut into slices.
The biscuits we use are just called "Malt Biscuits" but I assume they are similar...?

Might have to make some for DDs 3rd birthday next week.  Thanks for the reminder about it!  Definitely something from my childhood. :)

Today I was talking to the girls about sun-screen and why they needed to put it on, to which miss6 informed me it wasn't summer yet. :-)) ... a few minutes later miss22mths came running up, pointing to her arms and said "look mum, I summer-burnt!!"  Sounded so funny!!  :D
oh, let my kids give them a seasons lesson.  Apparently sunshine = summer even if it's frosty (literally single digit temperatures - fortunately we are getting past those though). It's been a struggle all winter to get clothes on DD(2) - shorts and tshirts year round.

My DS asked when I'm having a baby as I have a "fat tummy". Nice.
Luckily he also says nice things like "mum, you make the best fuzz" (choc fudge)....actually maybe that has somethng to do with the tummy...

Ooooh, I love choc mousse, and those look divine!  And, as an added bonus, I just discovered the Tick of Yum site.   ;D
