Sitting here wondering how soon I can go to bed! I went with the kids on a school bush walk trip and I am pooped. DS has gone to bed early, but little miss5 has gone to the scouts end-of-year night at the pool! Don't know how she's still going.

I have just made some fruity pear mince from the festive flavours booklet - can't wait to try it in some tarts!
I also made some Cointreau orange curd yesterday from Tenina's new christmix book - looks gorgeous and the jars will be presents for the teachers along with some fudge (yet to be made).

Ever wondered how Santa manages to deliver all the presents or why Rudolph's nose glows? :D

My SS gift arrived this morning too, from Sth Aust. Clever Santa also put on my parcel that it is wrapped - I will have to remember that for next year.

DH was very impressed at the whole SS idea - where has he been last year plus all the other swaps etc I have been a part of?!

We are putting up our tree this weekend, and this will be the first pressie to go under it.

Oh dear, today's school drop off was not so good. Clingy and crying little girl...
I am sure she was fine a minute later, but not nice.
She has been having a good time so far but getting a bit tired.  Next week the end of year fun activities start, so that'll be interesting (and exhausting). DH is going along on one, and I am going on another, so those days will be fine, although might make the other days harder!

Trying to catch up on the housework and washing today. So far my child free time this week has been entirely spent doing office work and errands, and it shows! The house is a bomb site. Exciting times here!!

I think I have already mentioned before how I cut stale bread into thin slices and bake it in the oven (130 deg) until dry and crunchy to use as crackers. (Tortilla chips are a big favourite here)

The crispy dried bread also makes really good fine breadcrumbs that keep for ages in a jar.

Yesterday went well for DD, thanks. She came bouncing out of class after school and went off today without no problems - I had to physically deliver her to the teacher, but then the teacher just said "off you go and sit on the mat" and away she went.  They have class swimming today which she is a bit nervous about, so fingers crossed that goes well. Her other swimming lessons have been very hit and miss.

I managed to slightly reduce my fabric stash by donating some to school for crafts, but still have so much....and then there's the wool stash! I am currently working on a knitted Jersey for myself from the stash, but that will barely make a dent! On the plus side, it is great to go stash diving to make presents - can go and pick something and get started straight away without spending a cent (only because I already spent those cents earlier, but never mind...) ;). There's not much in there I won't use at all, just not enough hours to do it right now.

I am in the middle of making another pencil case today (fabric from stash!) for my niece's 5th birthday.

Feeling a bit lost at home today....my baby started school today! 😃😥 she is probably having a lovely time and her teacher is just great (she was also DS's first teacher at school), but it was so hard to leave her with a few tears quietly running down her face (and nearly mine too).
She'd usually have been at kindy on a Monday anyway, but it feels strangely different. 😉

I will reserve the cookbook through the library and have a good look first 😉

Yes, we drove from Petone to Auckland on Friday, collected the caravan, stayed one night up there, drove to Taupo on Sat, and then home to Petone on Sunday. A lot of time in the car, but on the plus side, I started knitting a jersey along the way! Kids did really well considering the amount of time we had them cooped up in the car.
DH has already been shopping for the reversing camera, and just for something random found some mini salt and pepper grinders for the caravan. 😄 I am not the only shopper in the family....

Oh, Nikkit, first world problems here too - our dishwasher is broken! I may have to stop cooking! I am pretty annoyed as its only about 3 yrs old and a pretty pricey Bosch one. Hope it's an easy fix for handy DH.

So this morning is going to be washing dishes, doing washing and cleaning, and then getting started on a heap of cupcakes for the school gala this Friday.  Well, I probably won't do much today, but will make the roux for the frosting and leave it in the fridge until tomorrow.

DD finishes kindy next week and will be at school the week after. So I need to plan for her leaving day at kindy (just chips and fruit kebabs) and her birthday party, plus a family dinner.
My little baby, off to school! 😳 she has had two visits to her new class and I think she will be fine, but still expecting a lot of tears and clinginess like she had at kindy.

I had to buy the new christmix book as soon as I saw it too.  Looks great, and I have added a few things to my present making ideas list.  We are having Xmas day at BIL & SIL's house this year, so I will have a look at what I think will transport well to contribute to the day. :)

Haha, cookie, DH smacked his head on a few things - but mostly because he just can't stand up in it.  But he's kind of used to that being 2 metres all (6ft 6in)
Ours is I think 23ft long (including the towing part - excuse my technical terms here!!) so pretty big and heaps of room. We had a bit of trouble getting it into our driveway when we got here because of the depth of the gutter - had to make a ramp with some planks of wood, and will need to do a better job of it next time!!
