Different recipe book
« on: September 24, 2009, 02:56:35 pm »
My s.i.l. and I purchased our machines one week apart.  The recipe book that came with her TMX has the recipe for 5 seed loaf and my recipe book has the Cape Seed Loaf recipe - does anyone know why our books are different - haven't been able to check if any of the other recipes differ, but would be upset if I had an earlier print of the cookbook as I think they may have improved on the recipes since the one I received was printed.

Check this out Grandma. Why you both got different editions though is a bit strange - perhaps tell your consultant and she may be able to swap it for the latest edition.

Books are sent out with the machines from the Warehouse. I would say that they depleted the supplies of the older edition within the week that you both purchased your machines and whoever purchased later received the new edition. No newer editions of the books were available to anyone until all stocks of the old edition were used (not even consultants could get the new ones) Think of it more as a bonus as some recipes were removed from the book and now between the two of you, you have them  ;D

My s.i.l. actually received hers TMX a week before I did so she would have put her order in two weeks before me and she has the recipe book with the 5 Seed Loaf in it which is the updated one - I really don't mind if it's only a couple of different recipes - but it's just the fact that one,  if the book is older then so is the machine and two, I would think that they would have updated the recipe book to fix a few errors that were spoiling some of the recipes in the one I have.

Rest assured, the books aren't packed in with the Machines Grandma, so I wouldn't be worried about your machine being older, they are just delivered with the TMX if you know what I mean.  Were they delivered from the same warehouse? (ie are you both in the same state?) Otherwise I have no idea why you have the older book. Do you have the same consultant if you are close by each other? Maybe ask her.  There are still a lot of recipes in the new book that need a tweak as well! If you follow the link that Judy posted you will actually find all the changes that have been made. Print them out and you will have both books lol  ;D

I will put up a list of changes if I can - the creme anglais in s-i-l's book (IMHO) is not as good as the old one - probably be shot for that comment. What is more unfortunate is that they had the opportunity to say - here is the book,  there are some changes that we have made -maybe even give you a discount.....

Grandma the Cape Seed Bread is every bit as lovely as the 5 seed bread, but I do see your point. I guess they just grabbed a book for each of you. Perhaps look at it this way.  If you have the old book as most of us do, you can get the updates and then you have both. If you had the new book you couldn't get updates for the old book so you only have the one lot of recipes. There's not a lot of changes. :P :P :-*

New changes have been posted. Will do a couple of the bigger revisions in the cakes over the weekend. (Please note also that I haven't double checked them as usually am pretty accurate, but you never know). Didn't want to post the replacement recipes for copyright reasons.
