Wonder, here you go
Kahula Pork
Ingredients:
3 lb pork shoulder blade roast, lean, all fat removed, I used 2.5kg of pork
1 tbsp liquid mesquite smoke, I used 2tbs
1 tbsp coarse sea salt
Directions:
Place pork in the crock pot and stab it all over with the tip of a knife. Rub sea salt all over pork. Drizzle the liquid smoke all over and set crock pot to low; cook about 16 hours. I cooked for 2O hours as we were out.
Remove from crock pot and place on a large platter. Remove any fat you may have missed and shred pork with two forks. Discard liquid reserving a little as needed to keep pork moist.
Very very nice.
MF, yes cooked in the slow cooker, very delicious.

Sounds great Hally. I've never bought the liquid smoke before will have to have a look for it.
Can you let me know which cut of pork you used? We have a small leg roast that doesn't have a bone and also some boneless shoulder that I tend to use for the pull pork, I guess both of them would be OK. It looks like such a simple recipe - the only seasoning is the liquid smoke and salt.
-
I think it was leg but it did have a bone in. I dont think it woukd matter what cut you used.
H :)
-
Thanks Hally. It might be better with the bone in as I find it can dry out using pieces without the bone when cooking for a long time. I'm assuming you removed any skin.
-
I left the crackling on for moisture.
-
Hally where do you get the mesquite smoke?
-
I think you can buy it in bbq stores but I bought on line from misty Gully

Hally, I mis-read this recipe as "kahlua" pork - and I was wondering how pork in a coffee/chocolate sauce would taste :-)) :-))
And then I kept reading through the recipe trying to work out where you had written how much kahlua to add, and when to add it . :-[ :-[
Sounds really yummy though - even without the alcohol ;) ;)
-
Karen... I did the exact same as you but I wan't going to admit it. LOL ;D
