I have been reading everything I could on the web, as well as reading everything here on this forum and, I have to admit if I am completely honest, that I was still thinking that maybe the TM was just too expensive and that maybe I'd be disappointed with my purchase.
I WAS SO WRONG. I have had my TM for only 4 days now and it has exceeded all my expectations by a mile. I have made lots of things so far - poor hubby is almost being force-fed - and apart from a slightly heavy bread dough (which was almost certainly my fault) everything has turned out brilliantly. Today I have made the Rich Shortcrust Pastry and then the Quiche Lorraine (both from Fast and Easy Cooking) the Quiche was so tasty and really light and the Rich Shortcrust Pastry.... well....... I always thought my pastry was very good (sorry to blow my own trumpet) but this is just magnificent. Without a doubt and with no exaggerating,it is the best pastry I have ever made. Superbly light and crumbly, but, at the same time, very easy to roll out.
I'm sorry to go on like this, but if I knew then what I know now, the TM would have been in my kitchen long ago. So, if you're just thinking about it, just do it. You will not be sorry.

Does anyone know where I might buy a copy of Demonstrator Delights please? Thermomix tell me it is currently unavailable. Does anyone in the UK have a copy to sell? Thanks so much.

Firstly, many thanks for everyone's encouragement about getting on with it and not being afraid of myThermomix. I have just spent the last 6 hours "playing". Oh boy, what a piece of kit that is? I am so thrilled.
I have made 6 cream brulees, a "whole orange" cake with cream cheese icing, red pepper & tomato soup, lemonade and some organic seeded bread rolls. The creme brulees are cooling, so I haven't tried those yet, the soup was simply fantasti: so so smooth and tasty,the orange cake is to die for, the lemonade the best I have ever made. What more can I say?
The only thing I am disappointed with is the bread rolls. I followed the recipe to the letter(It was the one that my demonstrator used during my demo) and although the rolls tasted nice, they were rather heavy and a bit "doughy". Now, because I have barely ever made bread before, is there some kind soul out there who might be able to tell me what causes heavy bread?
The recipe says - after the dough has been made and shaped into rolls, "Place in a cold oven and turn to 40 degrees(or the lowest possible setting), set the timer for 25 minutes - the dough will start to rise" It thens goes on to the making of other things for the demo, like cheese sauce etc, and continues "Without removing the tray of rolls, turn up the oven to 220 degrees centigrade and bake for 12-16 minutes" My question is: Does that bit about setting the timer for 25 minutes refer to just the "proving" or should the whole thing - proving and baking take 25 minutes in all?
The only other question I have - yet - is about the washing of the stainless bowl. The instruction book says it can be put in the dishwasher. I don't think I would want to do this too often, but, is it, therefore, OK to immerse the bowl completely in hot,soapy water? I am very concious of those 5 prongs which obviously connect to the power.Sorry about the lack of technical "speak"here. It seems so wrong to get those wet. I'd welcome your comments. Thanks so much.
My hubby has just said - after eating soup,rolls,cake and lemonade - this piece of kit is going to make me fat!!! What can I say? Luckily, he is also very impressed with my new toy.

Ooooh eeck! My brand new TM arrived this afternoon. It's here and looking pristine and lovely on my work surface. I have told myself that I need to spend this evening reading all about it and that tomorrow, I will make things.
It looks so lovely and sparkling that I am loathe to spoil it by using it. I have promised myself that tomorrow, I will get on and make lots of things.
If I am completely honest, I have to admit thatI am afraid that the results of the things I make will not be anything like those made on my brilliant demo. I so do not want to be disappointed. Am I the only new owner who feels like this? Maybe a large gin & tonic (or two) would ease the situation!!!!

I have just ordered my Thermomix. I am so excited. Had my demo last night with Olivia, a lovely lady, and simply could not believe my eyes. I now realise that despite everything I have read about the TM, here and on the web generally, I just didn't really believe it. Last night, I saw with my own eyes, and tasted with my mouth, the results of this gorgeous little baby. I am so thrilled and, if I get results that are only half as good as Olivia, I shall be delighted.
My baby is being delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to have a play. I live in the Uk and have lots of friends who love cooking. I was contemplating not telling any of them about my TM, and having them think I just got better at cooking and much more organised - but I suppose that's a little selfish, so I'll probably confess and invite them to have a play. I can see Olivia getting more orders shortly. Thanks for being a great bunch - I've asked some daft questions whilst deciding what to do - and I'll probably ask a good few more.once I get going with my new TM.

I have finally arranged to have a demo of the TM on Wednesday, next week. I am so looking forward to this, as I haven't even seen the Thermomix in the flesh yet! Can't wait to see it in action.
As you can imagine, I am currently looking through all those lovely recipes on the Forum, trying to decide what I should cook that would be easy and would ease me into TM cooking, in a gentle manner. I read the thread about what owners cooked first etc and found it very interesting. I am really into sauces, both sweet and savoury, so it will probanly be something along these lines.
I live in the UK and notice that a lot of the recipes contain "CUP" measurements. These have always baffled me (needless to say,I am easily baffled) and wonder if anyone knows where I can get a full list of the conversion of cup to ounces/grams? I seem to remember that liquid and solids are different, or am I imagining this??
Having read everything I can on this forum in the last month or so, I am assuming I'll buy my new toy as soon as I can after my demo.You have left no doubt in my mind that I will love it.(See how much faith I have in you all?) Just like to say a big thankyou to everyone who has helped me in the last few weeks. I've probably asked some pretty daft questions and, if I buy a TM, I'm afraid I will be asking a few more. I'll apologise in advance. Thanks again everyone. I just have to add that I applied the spellchecker to this message before I posted it, and the only word it picked out was.... yes, you've guessed.... Thermomix!!!! It suggested I use Thematics or Thermometer. That raised a smile, I can tell you.

Hi, I live in the Uk (Bedfordshire) and have been requesting a demo, on and off, for about a month now, but nothing is happening. Any ideas what I have to do to get something organised? Thanks so much. I would really prefer to visit a TM owner rather than have them come to my home.

I live in the Uk and am hoping to buy a Thermomix in the near future - just got to have a demo sorted out. I'd really like to hear if anyone has a very favourite recipe to be made in their TM? I am looking for first time, reliable recipes to make whilst I get used to using mine. Thanks so much.

You're all going to hate me, but I am in the midst of deciding whether to buy the Thermomix.Do all you owners love yours? It's a lot of money to spend. My husband says I've got enough gadgets (processor, mixer, ice cream maker etc) but this machine seems like a little bit of magic to me. Should I buy one?
