We had Chelsea's Tuna strudel tonight as well with TM puff pastry. I'm afraid to say we really didn't like the pastry and found it very rich. As for the Tuna strudel that was quiet nice although we didn't get to really enjoy it because of the pastry. I would like to make it again but with pre rolled pastry or find another recipe to try.
So all in all tonights meal was a failure  :(.
I am making an apple crumble now to make up for it.

ChanNKids, hope you enjoyed the Butter Chicken.  Apparently this one from the Indian book is far superior to the one in the EDC.  I've only done the Indian one myself.

Oh that's no good Dede.  I hope the apple crumble is enjoyed. I haven't tried MJ's puff pastry, but I must admit that I rarely make my own these days because DH and kids find it too rich (both the EDC and UK versions). They quite like Pampas Butter Puff Pastry though.  ??? :)

I just looked at my pastry and its dairy free so I guess it has no butter. I think thats the problem as Megan's pastry has Butter and we are not used to a butter pastry. So is there a Puff pastry recipe that is butter free?

I have a piece of silverside in the slow cooker.
My neighbour assures me this is the best way of cooking it....pop it in frozen, add a couple TBSP malt vinegar, water, and six cloves!  Cook for at least 8-9 hours on low..... We'll see how it turns out  :-\

Maddy that is the only way I have cooked corned beef, over the past 6-7 yrs (but never frozen) - throw in a couple of tabsp brown sugar as well, cooked for longer in this house as I put it on before going to works and take it off at dinner around 6.30. Hope you enjoy, looking forward to the pics!!!!!!  :)  :)

I always do mind in the slow cooker, but never frozen. I will be interested how it furns iut using frozen meat.

Visitors to lunch today - served them Chicken & Leek filo pie, mashed potatoes, assorted steamed vegies.  Dessert chocolate souffle & salted caramel maple ice-cream
They were very impressed - if only they knew how easy it was  ;)

Well I didn't take a photo as I thought, well, it's just silverside  :P
I had it on for 9 hours on low from frozen, and it worked well!  It was a large piece (our own meat), so it wasn't falling apart for cooking that length of time, but it was cooked.
It was good to know that it works from frozen anyway  :)

I cook my corned beef in the slow cooker in a bottle of ginger beer and one onion!  Got the idea from taste.com.au.  Nice and simple.....and as I am addicted to the Buderim Ginger Refresher (make it up to ginger beer with soda water), I always have it on hand.

I had tried that once, but wasn't particularly keen  :-\.....but I really think the ginger beer I chose was questionable (cheap brand, as that's all there was).
Wondering if I should try it 1 more time  with a known brand ???
