Morning all.
Bit of drama here yesterday.  Ral woke with not being able to see out of left eye.  He thought he had something in it.  Made appointment with optometrist.  Eye improved during day.  Optometrists said he had had a slight bleed in the eye , nothing to worry about.  Bu~~ Sh~~ given his platelets.  I asked for a referral to a Specialist and she refused to provide one. I rang the Cancer Specialist and he will see Ral this morning. DD said we should have gone to Emergency.  Probably right.
I came home and made 2 lots of soup in TMX.  There is an item in the Age today about how woman cook when under pressure or anxious.

Good morning everyone.
Chookie, not good news about Ral, and not a very good response from the optometrist, especially with his health problems.  Glad you are able to see the cancer specialist.  Sadly sometimes you can sit for hours in emergency before being seen and I speak from experience.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Beepin' heck Chookie. What a dreadful optometrist. She obviously doesn't have a good background. With Ral's history it should have been the first thing she mentioned. Silly creature. I'm glad his eye improved during the day and so very glad you are able to see his cancer specialist today. I'm very cross on your behalf. Grrr!

Mab I agree re ED. Years ago my Mum had a fall in the garden and couldn't get up. She lay in the summer sun for nearly an hour before we got to her. (the silly girl had taken her alert necklace off as she was just going out into the garden!) She had very fair skin and was badly burnt to go with not having her Parkinson's medication. We sat in the ED of a private hospital for many hours before they saw her. I wasn't impressed, an elderly lady who had a fall, she could have had a stroke or anything.
Our only other visit DD was able to set it up as she was working in ED at that hospital at the time, hence DH basically walked straight in.

Saw the Cancer Specialist this morning. He was furious about the optometrist.  Got an immediate referral and appointment with eye specialist.  The bleeding is a result of the Platelet problem but no action needs to be taken.

The really good news is that Ral has approval for the new expensive drug. The Specialist is as excited as we are.  He is hoping that this will stabilise the platelets even at a low level.
The other good news is that he can have his flu injection next week.  We haven’t been able to go anywhere there are crowds.

Fantastic news Chookie, you’ve experienced the highs and lows of health problems today.  I hope you have another Optometrist in your city, I wouldn’t go back to that one.

Wonderful news Chookie that Ral’s treatment has been approved. I hope your cancer specialist is going to report the Optometrist to the relevant health authority.

Fortunately we have several Optometrists in Ballarat.
I think the Cancer Specialist is taking action. I am certainly going in person to tick her off.  Will certainly not be going there for service.
Cooler today and rain coming. GD coming to do house work/ cleaning.

Big thanks to everyone for your support.  Does mean a lot.
Temp 5 degrees at moment but feels like 1.  Wind warning for later.
Tuesday last day for Ral at Hospital.  ( we hope).  I am going to make some Almond Crackle cookies for Staff and for the head nurse, ( who is vegetarian) and too tired to cook when she gets home, Ratatouille, Falafel and Pear and Ginger Pud.

That is very kind of you Chookie and I know it will be greatly appreciated.

We are having spring weather here at the moment. Things are getting bad for lack of rain. We go onto the sprinkler ban on the 1st June. It is going to be 26 later in the week. I guess whinging about lack of rain won't help things.
