Chit Chat / Re: iphone, ipad, iPod touch App launch
« on: September 21, 2011, 02:16:21 am »
Yes I have started using more forum recipes, can be a little annoying having to use my iPhone when the screen turns off though! Was using evernote but I don't understand it anymore ( can't find it on pc even though can clip to it, and can't work out how to clip from iPhone) something changed with updates and it's got me lost! I am using more and more quirky cooking recipes too as my boys are wheat and dairy free, now there's an app I'd be happy to pay for, she's so helpful! I guess I haunt heard the best reviews of Mwoc book either and have never seen it!

Scrambled eggs! What a mess it was so hard to clean Bimby after couldn't use her for a whole day as it took much soaking, cleaning, soaking to get the stuck egg off the bottom! Maybe if I could do it in the varoma? But never in the bowl again!

Has anyone made vanilla bean paste yet? If so how did it go? I would love to make some!

I guess the other thing holding me back is I don't have a lot of faith in the Thermomix cookbooks there seem to be so Many recipes that need tweaking or don't work out, when your paying for them you expect them to be tested!

Does anyone know what brands make them with the stainless steel bowl? My understanding is all the ceramic ones leach lead even if guaranteed lead free as they are allowed to say they are lead free as long as they are within the required limit!

I am trying to decide weather to buy the app or not, I don't have the book and a lot of the recipes listed for the book seem to be double ups of ones I have in other books, then take out any with wheat and dairy I wonder how many new recipes I would have that I would use? As far as apps go this is really expensive! I have non TMX recipe apps with 1000's of recipes that are free! I don't usually pay for apps as there are so many great ones that are free but I did buy robogourmet due to thermomix addiction, it is the most i have ever spent on an app, it has free updates which is how I justify it.
I might wait and see, if it is to get free updates e.t.c and other 'books' added to it it may be worth the money but at the moment I cant see the shopping list and meal planner being of use if I cant add my own recipes to it, now if i could copy and paste recipes from elswhere into it, that would be a different story!

I'm looking for one with a stainless steel insert/bowl, apparently the ceramic ones leach a "safe" amount of lead into the food!

Think I will try marmalade! So far havn't done anything exciting with them, DH has been making lots of grapefruit 'lemonade' and I've been squeezing it in my water, surprised how many we have gone through just doing this!

I have been given two big bags of grapefruit, the bitter yellow type, now I need ideas of what to do with them! It's freezing here at the moment so I won't be making any sorbet! Thanks in advanced :)

No I don't have the gluten free book thinking of getting it but wanted to know if most of the recipes use soy (unfermented) and dairy as my boys cant have them either and have found this is the case with lots of gluten free recipes :( would love the recipe :)
