I've used it in the past Thermomixer (when I was seriously dieting which I don't bother about these days) and I bought it from the supermarket. From memory it was a powder which you added water to and it replaced eggs. Next time you are shopping, see if you can find it and have a read on the packet. It is nice not to have any allergies though isn't it - we should appreciate that fact a lot more after reading some of the problems our fellow forum members have.

I had never even heard of the TMX until DD went to a demo and decided to have one herself so that some of her friends and their DH's could attend. She told me I would love it and as DD's know best (or is that Mother knows best ) I thought, why not. I was, however, quite let down and scared of it at first as everything I did basically was disappointing - not the custards and easy things like that but I really wanted to use it for main meals. However, discovering this forum and trying recipes from here which actually worked was the one thing that has really bonded me with my TMX and it just sits on the cupboard begging me to use him every day. I have less washing up, rarely clean the cooktop and backsplash and have never been happier in my kitchen. No man nor his army would get it off me now and I hate to think how I would go back to the old way of cooking if it broke down and had to go away to be fixed. I find the meals healthier and the one fried meal I had recently, I hated. We rarely eat out these days and at 62, when a lot of women are sick to death of cooking, I love it. I have told DD No. 1 she can have it when I depart this earth as DD2 already has one. If you possibly can get your DH to a demo, do so as they seem to love it and in most homes they make the final decision on a big item like this. I'm lucky, if I want something I know DH would never say no.

Finally up out of my sick bed but DH opted to cook some nice pork chops and potatoes on the BBQ for lunch, bless him whilst I steamed the vegies in the TMX with it all coming together nicely. Should let him do this more often as he cooked the meat to perfection, keeping it nice and moist and not overcooking it. Then I did the Too Easy Chocolate Cake pge 129 Everyday cookbook which is really nice, not big but oodles for just the 2 of us. Must be feeling better to want a piece of cake.

Went out today and bought the vermouth for this recipe which is on the menu for tomorrow night. Had trouble finding either Vermouth or Madeira - they looked at me as if I was from another planet. Eventually found some Vermouth, only $10 a bottle. Guess they are old fashioned types of drinks these days.

Have today received My Antonia Carluccio pasta book that I won from Thermomixer - thanks indeed for that TM. Now, I wonder if I will be able to convert any recipes for the TMX I'll have to have a good read of it first.

You can have it Karen, just PM your address to me. Rather see it getting used than just sitting there never being referred to.

Thanks DrSpock, as I said before, I will use chicken pieces instead of Quail but should work just the same - may need a little extra cooking but that's not a problem.

Thanks Karen, I have her TMX book but it isn't in there. In fact only tried one thing in it (Zucchini slice), hated it and haven't tried another thing in there so that was a waste of money.

Someone will probably come up with a proper recipe Ayla but I just had a thought that perhaps you could use caramelised onions and add some beef stock - reckon this would work? Go to Starters & Snacks and look for the caramelised onion thread, read the lot but particularly that posted by Tenina which tells you how she does her onions.
