George C "launching" the Thermomix in Perth ???
« on: August 01, 2009, 06:55:36 am »
I saw in todays paper that Goerge C of Masterchef fame is in Perth to launch the Thermomix cooking appliance this weekend. Does anyone know anything about this please? I would have loved to be able to see it, but only read about it this morning. Perhaps I have missed this vital piece of info.

Subject: Attention everyone - Opening of Thermomix Demonstration Room in Perth

Hi Everyone

Please note: Eastern States Consultants and Group Leaders for your information only..

On Friday the 31st of July Head Office will be officially opening the Thermomix Demonstration Room.  We have been fortunate enough to have George Columbaris from Master Chef accept an invitation to officially open the Demonstration Room.  Our PR company, Magenta is working closely with George and the press to ensure that the coverage of the opening is extensive.

Unfortunately the Sunday Times STM magazine has reported that George will be cooking at the Thermomix Demonstration Room this Friday.   This is not the case.  George is invited to perform an opening ceremony for Thermomix only.

We apologize that with this are not able to extend an open invitation to everyone and Thank You for your understanding.  The PR company, Magenta, is monitoring the event numbers closely and attendance is by invitation through them only.

We expect that there will be a number of press here and it is predicted that they will completely fill the Demonstration Room and the forecourt area outside.  There will be some assistance offered on the day by the Group Leaders in terms of catering for the event.

As a company we are so pleased that this publicity is happening here in Perth and we are looking forward to the large amount of enquiries we expect to receive as a result of the publicity event (opening).  We anticipate that the outcome for consultants will be an increase in business and we are excited with the potential this could bring to everyone.

Kind Regards

Grace

Thanks ILB.
After I had written that post I thought it was rather selfish of me the way I wrote it. I didn't mean it to be.
I hope the media write heaps and heaps about it and lots of people purchase from the consultants.
Tenina must be very happy if they have a lovely new kitchen.

Well done  Thermomix in getting George C to open it. :) :)

Except I don't think it is for Tenina, it is a demonstration kitchen and also training will be done there for consultants as well. That is what I have been led to believe anyway.

Don't worry Cookie.  I had mixed feelings when I first read the email. But once all the news settled in it's really exciting for Thermomix.  Hopefully the media will follow up on some exciting pieces.

Oh, poor Tenina.
I hope her Kitchen at Thermomix is lovely too, and I guess it is very much a working kitchen.

Not too sure about the 'extensive media coverage'!!
No mention of George or the launch on the Thermomix site, one photo and a couple of lines on the recipe blog page and when I Googled 'George Calombaris Thermomix' I got only 2 hits pertaining to the opening of the kitchen - one hit was for the recipe blogsite and the other was someone's private photo on Flicker!

Oh well - the Thermomix - it's our little secret.

Yesterday I was at a lunch where a young guest chef of Italian descent cooked fabulous capiletti and a wonderful lemon zabaglione.  I asked how he made the zabaglione and he said the usual way over water.  When I told him that he should get a Thermomix, he replied "A what? - They said the same thing in the kitchen"  so, when i become a demonstrator I have a couple of potential sales.   ;D ;D
