SORRY - yet another bogus member that Master Moderator will have to deal with - but in the meantime keep away from his website.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
gosh this is annoying!
perhaps we need to have some sort of system they have to go through before they become active members, so we know they're for real?
-
Yeah - MM is on the job - they now have to validate with an email address - taht may slow them down.
In Portugal you need to do the same as our Yahoo and have somebody actually "approve" it.
Now you can see why I kept yahoo "private" - but it was not at all user-friendly. Just need to remain diligent
-
Hi,
Just to let you know that when one registers, one must confirm the email. Hopefully this will slow things down a bit. Let's see how it goes.
Happy Mixing
-
thanks MM fingers crossed!
-
too late i did last night argh.... >:(
-
MM has deleted the latest porn king - but be diligent -don't view websites unless you know them to be TMX types.
-
Just a "bump" for this topic as there has been a HUGE increase in members with no intention of discussing TMX matters.
Don't check their offers and websites.
If you are unfortunate enough to see some of the porn that they post, please accept our apologies - we will do our best to delete posts and "members" who aren't legit.
If you check http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?action=mlist;sort=registered;start=0;desc (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?action=mlist;sort=registered;start=0;desc) you will see the latest members. Those with ICQs are usually not bona fide members and if you hover your cursor (don't click!!!!!!!) over their website, you can see down in the left corner what it is.
Unfortunately brazen & I cannot remove them, but can delete their posts. MM will take care when he logs in.
Thanks

Here's another >:(

Ew!

Why not create a question that they need to answer such as "Who is the manufacturer of the Thermomix?"
That should weed out most of the spammers.
I found this mod that you can use in SMF that lets you create the questions
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1516
(This is not a porn site. :))

^^ agree with DJ, I also run a totally unrelated to thermomix website with forum. A mod like the one mentioned is the only way we managed to stop spam members. We did have a 'activation email' type set up, but it didn't work. The mod was the only one that helped. Very annoying thing to have to deal with for any moderator/owner & members alike >:( >:(
-
fortunately for us MM is pretty on the ball and we don't get them very often at all. When we do, us members are all over them like a rash and they are reported and removed and banned from the forum pretty quickly!! :D
We also have a system in place that if you report a spam message you post "reported" in a message under it so that we know it is reported and 50 other members don't flood the mods with the same report. Also that we message MM with the users name so that he can ban them. That way it is dealt with quicker ;)
-
How rude and insensitive people are? I mean, really! MM does the BEST job. But I guess we are all internet users and obviously have delightful senses of humour to realise accidents do happen :)
-
Hi MM, my reintroduction seems to not open anymore, I hope I haven't spammed anyone with anything inappropriate xxx
-
Ill check it for you Lee. If a bigger problem I will refer it to MM.
-
It seems to be ok Lee. Let one of the moderators know if you have anymore problems.
-
It opens for me too Lee & cookie.
