We are heading off on a well deserved break to the beach. I am taking TMX with me but I want to also make some good snacks to eat at the beach before we leave (I don't want to spend most of the holiday baking!). Seeing as it's coming into beach season in Australia I thought I would start a topic to get some good ideas for beach snacks - you know food that doesn't melt or need to be kept cold, isn't too effected by sand and can be eaten without utensils.
I'm baking:
Gingerbread cookies
Bliss balls
Muesli bar slice (although these don't hold up so well in the heat)
Banana bread
Cheese and bacon scrolls
Choc chip cookies
If anyone has a recipe or recommendation for cheese flavoured crackers (like cheds) I'd love to hear it.
What are your best tips for beach food?

Not that these require much cooking but first thing that came to mind was , boiled eggs. ;)

I'll be keeping an eye on this as we go to the beach every weekend with the horses in summer. (only time I like going!)
We only go for the morning, so pack a cake or similar for us, tea, coffee plunger etc. The boys get hay and cordial (molasses water) so they're easy!

i have just made a dip with lentils and semi dried toms. could be eaten with crackers or carrot or/celery sticks. No dairy in it so would be ok without fridge, i think. will post recipe if anyone interested. it is very nice and i would make again.

I love stuffed Cobb loaves, a little prep the night before but when compacted and cut into wedges a yummy something to fill extra hungry tummies.

Not really a beach person anymore. But I love the idea of the stuffed Cobb loaf. You could even do mini ones if you had the time.
Pizza scrolls may be nice or cheesymite rolls.

Piklets. :)
