Main Dishes / Re: White Cooked Chinese Chicken
« on: January 21, 2010, 01:22:18 am »
I want to try this but DH is worried about the strain on the TMX. He doesn't want me to be without it as I made a promise that when cooking with the TMX, dinner will always be ready by 6.30 pm.... I like to cook when it's dark!!! and when its daylight saving that's tooooo late for him. He really appreciates the TMX as he is now having dinner on time everyday. Do I need to worry about the TMX getting overloaded? :-\

Thanks for the replies. But Brazen why wouldn't you make it again? ??? Was it the taste or the texture

I've bumped this as I'm wondering if anyone has ever made this bread ??? ???. I made the artichoke dip to go with it, the dip which was a great success but the bread didn't seem right.

My daughter has been purchasing a sourdough corn bread which is delicious but would like to make her own in the TMX. Has anyone got a recipe for this style of bread? I'd love to surprise her with a recipe for it ;D ;D ;D

Introduce Yourself / Re: New to Thermomixing....
« on: January 15, 2010, 03:31:17 am »
Welcome to this forum..... which is very helpful and lots of fun. I suggest that you don't fret too much about what to cook spend a day or two collecting from this site and any others that might be mentioned here. Copy and paste the recipes that interest you, print them out and Hey you have the beginnings of a new recipe book that has been tried and tested by others on the forum :) As Thermomixer said start with the vegetarian thread. I can guarantee it was well worth the effort when I was waiting for my TMX to arrive.
Good luck and Happy :) researching and cooking. :o

Non Food Recipes / Re: Washing Machine Powder
« on: January 07, 2010, 11:06:21 pm »
I've been making this soap powder for a few years now and have been very happy with it  ;D. When I make up a batch I actually store it in old cryovac bags ( previously used) in 1 week of washing quantities, for camping I put in enough powder for 3 washes. I then use my cryovac machine, cryovac/seal the packets and hey presto no matter what the weather the soap is always fresh, soft and doesn't spill anywhere. Particularly useful when traveling outback, or in humid weather. ;D

Breakfast / Re: Maple and Cranberry Toasted Crunch
« on: January 04, 2010, 01:52:21 am »
So if you use cranberries you should add some sugar? lol I don't have craisins Snoozie adding sugar won't make them any sweeter as the berry is very tart and doesn't take up the sweetness. That's why it didn't work for DGS4 (he has a very sweet tooth) but if you don't mind a bit of tartness it should be very nice especially with some yoghurt. :o

Stupid question but are dried cranberries and craisins the same thing?

Actually not even sure I have dried cranberries... bought them from the health food shop lol

Craisins are the sweet version of cranberries. DGS4 was actually put of this recipe as DD2 used dried cranberries, but loves the craisin version.
Thank you babymaker I can now acknowledge that this is Tenina's recipe. I was a bit worried by the copyright laws so didn't want to post it. Thank you Tenina for a great breakfast cereal. Can the recipe now be moved to the Breakfast area? Hope that lots of people out there try it as it is a wonderful breakfast/snack/treat.

Breakfast / Maple and Cranberry Toasted Crunch
« on: January 03, 2010, 03:26:37 am »
I have this fabulous breakfast recipe that I would like to share with you all. Its easy, simple and verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry yummy. DD3 has converted it to be gluten free. So it is very versatile. I have it with TM Yoghurt, DGS2 has it with rice /almond milk and everyone else has it with milk. DGS1 likes to eat it dry after school as a snack! ;D The trouble is that I found the recipe somewhere on line when I was still considering (longing for my TMX), I cut and pasted it into a word document and lost who and where it came from. I've searched but cannot find it again. How do I go about letting you all know about this great :) :) :) recipe? It's a 10/10 for all of my family.

Made a pudding from one we already had - so haven't bothered trying to make one today - forgot we had it there ( and another one that has soft caramel filling that was a gift from friends)
What kind of pudding did you make? Can you give the recipe? I've still got the squashed panattone in the freezer trying to think of something to do with it. ???

Chit Chat / Re: disaster day -lots of flops!

I made this recipe the other day and the taste was divine. I spread it out a bit too much and next time I'll use my adjustable cake form and make sure that it is thicker in the middle. I did get that nice soft centre and crisp outside around the edges. It was a hit with all the "sweet tooths", cream and mango slices finished the pavlova. Not picture perfect but taste was great. :)

Chit Chat / Re: What did you name your TM?
« on: December 27, 2009, 01:14:08 am »
I just love the names people have given their machines. I call mine TM but think of it as "Horse"... my little work horse... and it hasn't stopped working since that wonderful day it arrived. I think I haven't had the courage to call it Horse out-loud... so don't tell anyone :-X

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Re: Recipe Review - Sundried Tomato Dip - EDC
« on: December 27, 2009, 01:07:12 am »
I have to agree that the dip is beautiful and sooooo easy to make. It was one of the first things I made in my TMX. The only thing is it made a huge quantity, although I froze what I didn't use (half the mixture) it is better freshly made. Next time I'll try half quantity.
