1 litre unhomogenised organic milk
750g raw sugar
1 tblspn vanilla extract

O....M....G....!!!!!!!

Sooooooooooooooo much better than my previous attempt at SCM.  Seriously good!  My pancreas is screaming at me, but I can barely hear it over the squeals of delight from my tastebuds ;)

Bread / Re: Isi´s easy Portuguese Rolls

Wow!  That is the best bread I've ever cooked!  Made the rolls to go with the minestrone soup I made for dinner.  I only had 400g of white flour, so made up the difference with wholemeal.  So yummy!  Thanks Isi :D

Thanks D!  On my list of things to try - I'm thinking Frangelico, though (can't beat hazelnut & chocolate!)

Agreed!  I'd never made SDP before, but was keen to try it, so cooked it a couple of months ago.  Glad I did - just sublime!

Ny, did you mean you had the basket inside the jug?

Yeah - that's how I read the recipe to mean, so that's what I did.  I think the hole in the lid is possibly too small to allow sufficient evaporation.

Anyone able to type out the pizza dough recipe for me so I can cook dinner?  My EDC seems to have disappeared after Christmas  :(

Thanks :)

Still a bit too runny.  Might try reducing it a bit in a normal saucepan tomorrow.

Measure   Ingredient
6 cups    Whole milk
4½ cup    Sugar
½     Vanilla bean

OK - I'm making this now - almost finished.  I've added another 10 mins on to the cooking time as it still seems a bit too watery after an hour.  It did start to froth out of the hole in the lid early on, but never overflowed.  You know - I had to make the big sacrifice & scoop of the froth - and then I had nowhere to put it - besides my hips  :D  YUMMMMOOOOOO!!!!!

I also dropped the speed back to 3 after about 40 mins as Thermie is making funny rattly noises at 4 (OK at 3 & 5 though).

As I've already got the basket in the bowl, I won't bother using another strainer.  That will be enough to keep the vanilla pod out of the bottles  :)

ETA - It ended up being more like 1.5 hours, but I had more at the end than the original recipe stated & it was not as thick & syrupy as the canned stuff.  I'm going to wait & see if it thickens slightly as it cools, otherwise next time, I'll just cook it longer.  Tastes delish, though!

Ooooh...thanks Caroline. Will try that last recipe you posted.  It will be nice to have SCM not made by Nestle!
