I make up a jar full and leave a pastry brush in it. This time of the year I leave it on the bench and it is a good consistency to use.  I use it in my mini SC when making a mini loaf of bread. I haven't used my silicon liners for ages.

I do the same Chookie, it's so handy having it right there.  I've given the recipe and a pot of it to a couple of friends, one in particular absolutely loves it and even her grand-son wanted to make some as he bakes a lot at home and not just when he's with his Grand-mother.  Best thing since sliced bread  ;D

I'm another one who loves this. It's so useful.

I made this yesterday using the quantities in the recipe.  I've read how it's ok to leave on the bench/pantry especially now we are in the cooler months but I just wanted to double check that even if only using every few weeks or so it would still be safe to do so?  I don't bake very often these days (peek a boo pudding aside)  ;D so wondered if I really should keep it in the fridge.  ???

Julie I use this all the time and just keep in in the cupboard near the stove, I use it on lots of things, if I'm cooking in the AF just give the pastries (raw) a quick brush,  the Jaffel iron in the open fire,  etc .

If I am not baking every day I keep it in the fridge.  I make 3 times the suggested quantity.

I made this over the weekend and was really pleased at how well it worked.  I experimented by using it when I was roasting butternut in the oven and it worked perfectly ... perhaps I didn't get the really crunchy bits as you do when you use oil / fat, but the clean up was so quick ... and that was even after I didn't soak the roasting pan until an hour or two afterwards.

Thanks for the replies girls.  I think I'll keep in the fridge as it really won't get used a great deal, I think I'll just feel happier.  :)

Uni, I think it might be a bit difficult to wash off.
