Halley you are so organised!  I open my fridge, peer hopefully into the freezer and pantry.... have a glass of wine... have another look and a think... have another glass of wine and then fully inspired get to it!  LOL sometimes success, sometimes failure, always interesting.

Exactly the same Jude. LOL!  Sometimes I just grab the bottle, and the  is it.

That is quite a common thing in our kitchen... dh and I stand around talking about what to have for dinner and polish off a bottle and call that good and healthy nutrition :)

Isn't wine a food group??? I'm sure the French would think so.

I have been over budget two weeks in a row by about $25.00 had to buy meat as the freezer is just about empty. Might look into buying in bulk.
DS and DD are moving back home in a week or so. DD will be here for about 6 weeks, she has decided to move back to Tassie, I am going to miss her.
DS was sharing with her so he is coming back to, he says it will be temp.
It will be different after all these years of just the two of us.
Will have to double my budget plus, with the amount DS eats.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

Sure is, fruit and carbohydrate at the very least.

I'm going to try this.  The last couple of weeks I've been trying to empty out the pantry and freezer a bit.

The last week in June's food bill was $78.00 and last week's food bill was $52.00.

We've got 5 in our family including 2 teenage boys.  I've been using what I have rather than going to the supermarket to buy an item and spending $50 while I'm there.  For instance, I wanted to make a sour cream shortcrust pastry but had no sour cream so Googled and found a good shortcrust recipe that uses yoghurt.  Oh, and as a bonus it had less than half the butter as the recipe I was going to use.

Not sure about this week's shop though as I'm starting to run out of meat in the freezer.  Oh and I'm so over lamb!!

Well a new shopping week starts for me tomorrow, but as I am not going out today my total food spending for the week is a whole $5.13...shaved ham for DH and DD's sandwiches.  :)
Have my mum coming (from NZ) on Friday for 10 days so will be interesting to see how our food budget goes then!!!!!  ;)

I'm defrosting my chest freezer and writing an inventory so I don't buy anything that I've already got.  :-))

At the beginning of the school holidays I had 6 bags of Hash Browns!  I was able to use up a few of them when kids came over to play, but there's still 2 bags left and my kids' stomachs churn now at the thought of them!

My stomach churns at the thought of eating lamb again but there's 6 meals of lamb left!  We're even having lamb cutlets tonight and my stomach is churning.

Went shopping today and spent $90.67c. $34.98 was in razor blades and conditioner.
DH sneeked a can of WD 40 in. I wasn't going to count it in the budget but DH said we've still got $8 for milk so let's see how we go?

Oh foodiepep I would trade my hunk of beef for some lamb. If we all lived in the same neighbourhood we would be running around crazy exchanging food with one another.

I might drop a couple of bottle off at EmeraldSues.

I'm just happy to give my excess away, don't want to bring anything back.
