Chit Chat / Re: What have you been doing today?

Thanks K Atie, I’ll check out her website but I have written out over 100 recipes for this project of mine. Yes Marina, it was a huge and expensive task but with all the hard work done all I have to do now is choose one at the end of the day. Tonight I had one of the frozen dump bags which consisted of broccoli, banana, mango, strawberries, baby spinach. I just had to add pineapple juice and water with my usual addition of 3 scoops of Sustagen - it made 2 large ones, one for tonight and one for tomorrow night - it was delicious. My DD was impressed and took GD to the freezer to show her what I’d done. She thought the dump bags would be especially good for her to put together for her quick smoothie fix.

For the past week I’ve been looking up recipes for fruit & veg smoothies and writing them in a note book. I ended up with 38 pages then I set to buying some ingredients and packaging them up for the freezer. I made 3 ‘dump bags’ with what I had on hand but now all the fruit and veg are packed into little bags separately. I spent hours yesterday doing the fruit bags but have left the bulk bags from Costco of strawberries, blueberries and mangoes as they are as they pour freely as is. I now also have pineapple, apples, mandies, grapes, medjool dates packed away and will add the pears as soon as they ripen.  Today was vegetable day after a trip to Farmer Jo’s for spinach, asparagus, carrots, kale, zucchini, beetroot - I only cooked the asparagus and beetroot. I already had 10 bags of freshly cooked chickpeas in the freezer after coming across the bag whilst cleaning out the pantry. I’ve got individual packs of orange and pineapple juice in the pantry and today have frozen 8 bags of Greek yoghurt.  I’ve bought almond and coconut milk but will make my own oat milk.

My reasoning for this change of tack for my evening meal is that I believe we will be having a very hot summer and we all lose our appetite when this happens. I’ve been eating very little in the evening so by changing to a fruit & veg smoothie with added seeds and sustagen I will expect to be eating, or drinking really, quite healthy meals. So far I’ve had a chocolate, strawberry chickpea smoothie and a Berry Cabbage one - both were enjoyable, the cabbage one more so once I added the sustagen.  I don’t enjoy food these days so I’m going to do something about it.

It’s disappointing when that happens Margaret.

Today I came across an old recipe of mine and only made it because I had all the ingredients on hand. It may go home with my DD when her and the kids come to visit tomorrow. https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=13503.0

That was a very enjoyable morning with family Chookie, surprised you haven’t been there before this. Thank goodness for good neighbours like you, living alone we need people to keep an eye out for us and pick up on warning signs. Wishing your neighbour well in her recovery.

Cookie, can’t wait to read of your decision, will you or won’t you I wonder. It may lead to bigger and better things if you are willing to go down that path.

K Atie, good on you for educating DS in life after living with parents. A man who can look after himself is always appreciated by a future wife, one who has been spoilt rotten by his Mum usually expects to be treated the same by his wife.

It sounds delicious cookie and I can imagine the excitement that day in Bundaberg when he returned. We visited Hinkler House when we went on our 5 month campervan  trip back in 1991.

That’s a magnificent run from your old machine Margaret, it deserves retirement.

Good to see your delicious photos back cookie.

Enjoy the movie Chookie, I hope it’s not The Strays!  A friend invited me to join her to see a ‘lovely doggie movie’, we had no idea it was M rated. Only 10 people in the theatre including 2 young couples which I thought was odd when we walked in. However it soon became clear what we were in for and my poor friend couldn’t believe her ears and eyes. We had many laughs though and were soon not shocked at anything we saw. It brings a smile to my face whenever I think of that experience.

I prefer train travel to cookie, much faster than the bus. I hope you weren’t late for your appointment.

What a terrible week Chookie, go to bed and don’t surface until next week when things will be better.  Weeks like that make us appreciate all the carefree ones we do have.

I hope you reminded the insurance company that they were not speaking to the deceased person Cookie,

I’ve had a great week going through wardrobe and cupboards (again), putting unwanted items up on our Buy Nothing Group page and meeting some of the locals when they collected their goodies. Have done lots of shredding and still have the filing cupboard to do in that regard, that’s always the final job for me.

Bless him cookie, what a great life he had with you and the family - you both brought joy into each other’s life.
