Bread / Bread "bowl"
« on: March 31, 2012, 06:26:28 am »
Hi all, long time no post.  Had a rough few months but all good -
I wanted to make some soup tonight and was thinking of making those bread rolls that are the"scooped" and used as bowls.

I had a recipe in a thermomix calendar but lost it in the clean out after the ex moved out.
Any ideas?!

Bread / Seasoned breadcrumbs
« on: May 26, 2011, 07:55:13 am »
I am probably posting something you all know anyway but here goes... If by some miracle you have left over bread (especially a full body one like the 5 seed) it makes  amazing fresh breadcrumbs.  I used red chili, parmesan, lemon zest and whatever fresh herbs the chooks have left particularly garlic chives.  The texture is perfect and the smell amazing!   I can't believe I ever bought bread
 crumbs!! :-))

Bread / Anyone heard of this "speed proofing"
« on: May 23, 2011, 11:25:47 pm »

7. Proofing Yeast Doughs

Yeast doughs that normally take an hour or more to rise at room temperature can be proofed in the microwave in about 15 minutes. Place the dough in a very large bowl and cover with plastic. Place an 8-ounce cup of water in the back of the microwave with the bowl of dough in the center, and set the power as low as possible (10 percent power). Heat for 3 minutes, then let the dough rest in the microwave for 3 minutes. Heat for 3 minutes longer, then let rest for 6 minutes. The dough will double in bulk.

Chit Chat / Ministry of food
« on: March 20, 2011, 09:15:41 am »
Hey all, I live in Ipswich and we are lucky to have jamie's ministry of food setting up shop here.  I am so excited as so many of the women I work with don't know how to cook and have never been part of a home where food is prepared.  I have volunteered to be part of the effort do any of you have any experiences with the organization.  I feel so blessed to have been raised in a multi generational home with a Greek grandmother who was always cooking and baking! Sadly my daughter has no interest yet but I live in hope as she is only 15

Bread / Challah Bread
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:30:33 am »
Hi All - I am still (impatiently) waiting for my thermomix to arrive.  Do any of you have a receipe for Challah bread (Jewish twisty type of bread).  Are there enough of us to have a Kosher section lol?
Thanks,
