Title: Converting a recipe for TM31
Post by: ritaknowles on July 09, 2009, 02:35:41 pm
I am very very new to this and have tried using the TM to make Nigella Lawson cookies. I use this recipe all the time using my Kenwood Chef but would love to use the TM to make the pastry. Can you help? I think I am confused because it asks for creaming the butter and sugar together and then add the flour and eggs.

this is the recipe

Nigella Lawson's cookie recipe

350 grms unsalted butter
400 gms caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 large eggs
800 gms plain flour
40 Celophane bags

Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla extract using the Kenwood with K beater till white and creamy.
Beat the eggs in a separate bowl. Add the eggs and the flour to the creamed mixture. Bind together to get a smooth dough. Leave in the fridge for about an hour. Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Cut out the cookies and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake in the oven at 160C for 15 minutes or until the edges turn light brown. Leave to cool before lifting off the baking tray.

For the method that says
:Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla extract using the Kenwood with K beater till white and creamy.
Beat the eggs in a separate bowl. Add the eggs and the flour to the creamed mixture. Bind together to get a smooth dough."

try:

Place butter and sugar into TM bowl. Cream on Speed 5 for 15 - 20 seconds.
Add vanilla and eggs and mix on Speed 3 for 10 seconds.
Add flour and mix on Speed 4 for 15 - 20 seconds, until a smooth dough.

Thank you so much. I shall try it and let you know the result. It seems so much simpler and quicker.

Yes they are. I use them as part of the ingredients to work out the cost of the finished product. I have a software programme which works out the cost of a recipe and also the price of each serving. This helps me work out the charging price to customers.
