Does anyone own a Phillips Airfryer?
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:59:29 am »
hi there.

does anyone own one of these? Any thoughts? Reviews say they make great chips. fine.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-AirFryer-Healthier-Oil-Free-Fryer/dp/B0042EU3A2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316505537&sr=8-1

I'm wondering about other uses for the product, and there ins't much on the web....

thanks!

Phil.

Because so many people have now purchased an air fryer, Courton has started a list of times for various items.

I hadn't spotted these before.  They look great and the reviews read well. I wish I could afford one as I'm a bit partial to fish and chips.  :)

Hi, I have one of these and like it a lot. You can only use dry food in it like fish fingers, chips of course, croquettes, chicken legs, pork fillets. The temperature goes form 80 to 200 degrees c. the timer goes from 1 min to 30 min. I have shown the unit to friends of mine and subsequently sold 3 units. I can recommend it . Frans

Two Three questions (so far that I can think of):

1. how does this differ from a turbo oven? From the video, it looks like hot air circulates around the chips.
2. how does this compare with the tefal actifry?
3. is it plastic that the cooking is done in?

Online reviews say the Airfryer is better...it's faster.

From what i've seen, the cooking basket/interior are all metal. Plastic is only the outside.

I am pretty sure julieO has an actifry? Is that the one that uses just a little oil?

I actually cook my chips in the oven. Chop them, spray a little oil over them and put them in the oven. Not exactly the same but pretty good.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I have the air fryer and had actifryer.  I ended up giving the actifryer to my sister as it didn't suit my style of cooking.  I don't tend to use the air fryer very often as I'm not that keen on any fried food.  My husband and daughter use it constantly to make lots of different types of frozen fried food including chips, chiko rolls, chinese entrees, wedges etc etc.  It seems to do a better job of crisping them up than the oven does and it is more efficient than heating the oven for a few potato gems when my daughter wants them after school.
