Welcome back MrSpock, missed you.  Know exactly how you feel - we've had 2 cruises in the last 18 months and have another one booked for December this year and it is so hard to get back into the kitchen after having it all laid on for you. The worst part is catching up with all the postings here  :-)) :-)) :-))

We had this for a late lunch today Thermomixer and DH says to tell you it was quite nice which in his language means excellent ;D ;D
I skinned my thighs - they were only tiny ones so didn't hold as much filling as the recipe made so I have frozen the leftovers for next time (and there will be a next time, believe me). Followed the recipe to a T except I guessed where to add the breadcrumbs back in as you left that out (tutt tutt).  I put some tiny potatoes in the basket and some carrot, cauli and brussel sprouts on the tray and when the chicken was done, rested it whilst I cooked the vegies for another 10 minutes.  Removed the vegies and made some gravy out of some frozen stock and pan scrapings from a previous weber roast.  Ended up zapping the unwrapped chicken rolls for a minute to bring them back up to temperature.  Being thighs, a bit more cooking can't dry them out. Put some butter and parsley on the potatoes and it was an absolute gorgeous meal.   Served with a piece of garlic & herb pull- apart from the freezer.

This would be a great meal to serve up to visitors.  I'd cook the vegies for a while before putting the chicken rolls in so that it can all come together easier.  I was wondering, Thermomixer, how it would go if you actually made the chicken rolls in advance and just heated them up.  I should have kept one back and tried it but they were so delicious, we ate the lot (only did 4 and they were small). Only downside was they were a bit fiddly to remove from the gladwrap and alfoil - have your scissors handy ;) ;) ;)

Don't know how I am ever going to work out a menu plan for 2 days, let alone a week.  I was on here until late last night then took all my TMX cookbooks and printed out recipes to bed with me, trying to work out some meals. Came up with several I could do with the chicken thighs thawing out in the fridge for today but still didn't decide which one  :-)) :-))  Had to give up in the end as it got too late.  As a consequence I didn't wake until 9.35 this morning and here I am, still sitting reading the latest postings in my dressing gown. Karen has already got some bread in the oven and I've done nothing. The older I get the slacker I become  ;D ;D

Hi and welcome DJ - yes it is a bit weird to read the manual, especially before even ordering one ??? ??? You certainly know something I wasn't aware of - ie replacing some seal after 2 years.  Must check it out myself if I can drag myself away from the forum or my TMX. How many of us have even had our machines for 2 years or more and have you replaced this seal?

Hi & welcome Ny.  Can't believe the numbers coming out of Tasmania at the moment.  Good luck with your TMX and hope to hear from you once you take delivery of your machine and hear all about what you have been cooking.

Thermomixer, wouldn't it be lightly beaten and added whilst the TM was still mixing?

I do a menu plan for the week, listing where I'll find the recipe and anything I need to buy.  Otherwise we end up with grills 7 nights a week and I don't try out any new recipes.
Great idea Cookie1 - how often do I buy ingredients only to forget what recipe I was going to use them in ??? ??? ??? I now put the name of the recipe alongside the items on my list but will have to start doing a menu plan - it will be far easier but whether I can stick to it is another thing.  I just found a packet of ham pieces in the freezer and I noticed I had written on the packet what recipe it was for so I must be improving in that department.

You must have me confused with someone else JulieO - I am a Port supporter but also have a soft spot for our other South Australian team.  I'm not your typical S.A. one-eyed supporter :D :D  I always barrack for the Crows unless they are playing us  ;) ;) Even went to the Crows second grand final and bought all the gear - people think I'm strange.  They could be right.

Narelle I use 3 potatoes, cut into 4 and blitzed for 2 seconds on speed 5.  Mix in an egg, S & P on reverse speed 2 for a few seconds until combined.  These have much more texture than those in the EDC - I don't add flour either.  We had lots of conversations on this particular recipe in the early days as no-one seemed to like them.  This way they have much more texture and are close to the grated version we called mock fish.  Makes 6 cakes.

Rowyfo, make sure you put some snail pellets around the vegies - they love them too :o :o :o  They got to my spinach before I laid a handful then when I planted some coriander I didn't have anymore and thought they wouldn't like the taste of it anyway.  Wrong! they demolished it overnight so I had to buy another plant and more snail bait.  Got 2 dozen of the little buggars the first night :o :o :o  They don't touch the spring onions though and haven't worked out where I've planted the parsley and thyme - in a wooden wheelbarrow DH made.

Tips and Tricks / Re: urgent help needed!!!! potato & leek soup from EDC

No one seems to be coming in on this one Karen so I'll put my 2 bob's worth in. Haven't made it for ages but my notes say that I used 4 potatoes and only 500g water. Should feed 4 surely. It wasn't my favourite tasting potato & leek soup though.

Looks good Thermomixer - different shape to mine, a lot taller.  Mine were round and flat due to the shape of the little dishes I did them in. What I like about them is the fact that you can cook them in advance, leaving you more time and space to do other things, especially when you have visitors. Then just heat them in the microwave.

Hi and welcome to a fellow South Australian Julie.  Loved reading your story and can relate to some of the things you said. Sounds like you have got it all worked out though as to how to get the best out of your TMX even if you have to combine it with some stop top cooking.  I have also thought about cutting down the salt in the stock concentrate and freezing it but my freezers are always so full, it would just be more stuff I would be searching for so I do the full on salt thing and don't need to add salt generally after cooking.  We all work out what is best for our needs.  Couldn't believe you had a consultant who doesn't like to cook ??? ??? ??? ??? It has to show through in her demos and the enthusiasm just wouldn't be there, would it? Some of our fellow forum members are also consultants and I would love to go to one of their demos to see them in action as I'm sure their love of cooking and therefore their love of the TMX would show through.  It has to inspire you.  Good luck with your TMX Julie.
