Thermie doesn't chop properly!
« on: March 11, 2013, 06:20:33 am »
Can't believe it, put a bit of a quarter cabbage, say 1/4, and a carrot chopped into 6 pieces into thermie on speed 4 for 4 seconds and it didn't chop! Made a weird noise like it was overloaded and wouldn't turn properly. Set for another 3 seconds on speed 5 and didn't do much better. In the end a simple one serve coleslaw took 10 seconds. I will call my consultant tonight. Still let you all know the outcome. Haven't had it a year yet.

I'm wondering (and thinking) if you have stripped your blades ... there are a couple of threads about this ... will see if I can link them up FYI.

around half a dozen threads come up on searching for "stripped blades" hopefully that will help you  ;)

Thermie has now stopped chopping altogether. Even with nothing in the bowl it makes the noise like it's overloaded and blade doesn't move. Am out of warranty in a few weeks so hopefully this will be resolved. The rep is contacting head office tomorrow, going back to time before thermie! Noooo!

Your problem arose just at the right time Emily, let's hope they hop onto it very quickly.

Thermie was collected yesterday, the person on the phone said it sounds like liquid for into the motor but I don't know how ???  The kids make milkshakes but haven't reported anything.. at my demo the consultant brought her 9 year old daughter and promoted it as being something even the kids can use... here's hoping for good result!

What a shame I found my sister on the forum this way. I was just reading thinking "the same thing has happened to Em" and low and behold it is my Em.
Hope it's not too long chick. I can cope without mine but things take sooooooooooooo much longer!

New blades arrived fairly quickly but it didn't solve anything, machine would make overloading beeping noise and do nothing, which is why it has been taken to Sydney. Hopefully I will hear something this week.

MrsG I had to knead pizza dough by hand today.... :'(

Email from thermomix saying it will cost $100 for it to be fixed, involves cleaning motor, no replacement of parts. I have responded by querying why it isn't covered by warranty.. stay tuned.

If Thermomix knew that thousands of their customers are interested in this I'm sure that they would be doing the best ty can!

Nope! They won't cover it. I had to fork up the money to get thermie back. Bit disappointing. I'll chop it on the chin since it was my 12yo who spilt milk and wiped it up but some went under the machine and he didn't wipe that. When the machine was turned on it sucked the milk up and motor got all clogged up. But of a lesson learned, wasn't even through using the thermie that he spilt it, just spilt it on the bench.
There you go peeps!

Thanks. That is something else we all need to be aware of.
