Title: Possums in the roof
Post by: Alexis on April 16, 2013, 03:11:23 am
Hi, after another night of being woken repeatedly I have decided it is time to take action! Does anyone know of a humane way of getting possums out of the roof? PLEASE?

my sister had a possum she rang some wildlife place and they provided a trap thing it was like a basket and when they went in it the door closed and it couldn't get out she then rang the people back and they took it away

Sounds good. I'll google wildlife rescue. Thanks.

Alexis I know the Armadale area used to do that. If you have no luck try your shire.

Alexis the council generally supplies traps otherwise there are places like The Possum Man etc that can help. Good luck.
Loud annoying little buggers.

It is worse when you find out it wasn't a possum causing the noise though (from experience  :o )

It's usually squirrels in the roof over here. Good luck.

A friend was saying that it could be rats!! I think I'd rather have possums. I'll get onto the council.

We have recently had the unpleasant experience of a dreadful smell in our bedroom which lasted for several weeks. We have come to the conclusion that it was a dead rat in the roof above our bedroom. The roof above our bedroom is low and flat and we could not get to the rodent to remove it, so we had to evacuate to the kids bedrooms for several nights until the smell became bearable.
I hope you can find some way of removing the possum and blocking it's entry so that it can't get back in.

That sounds terrible. We've looked all around the roof and can't see anywhere that they can get in, but you can sometimes hear them squeezing in as their fur rubs against the metal. Ugh!
