faffa I am loving your orange juice method.  We are making it a lot atm with 2 oranges watermelon and pineapple, and making icypoles from it too.  It seems so easy now that I am doing it, but I never really enjoyed my earlier attempts so I was glad to see this post.

thanks faffa. I suspected I may need a double batch of the pastry.  I used bought pastry yesterday as I did not have time to experiment but will try the rough puff pastry one day and see how much I can get out of it.   I am going to Cyndi's class soon so I may just ask her if there is an opportunity.

they were great.  I added a little bit extra oats so it was not so runny

ok thanks for your replies.

I may have wrongly assumed that Cyndi was refferring to the 'rough puff pastry' in the EDC book.

But she did not say how many quantities of that I needed and I was not sure that 1 quantity would equal 3 sheets.  It sounded like some people had made it with the EDC pastry, so wanted to know how much pastry to make.

anyway I will just buy pastry this time, I need it for a party tonight.

hi there - can anyone pls help with the pastry for these sausage rolls

I am a bit confused about using the rough puff pastry for cyndi's sausage rolls.  The EDC book implies that the rough puff pastry recipe only makes 1 sheet, but Cyndi's sausage roll recipe says you need 3 sheets of pastry.

Can someone just confirm that 1 batch of the rough puff pastry will be enough for the sausage rolls ie do I just divide it into three and roll it out to a store bought size (or do I need 3 quantities?)

I did try once a long time ago but I used the recipe for puff pastry from the Indian book (as I did not have any lard) and I struggled to get even 2 sheets out of it. 

Also can I just use all butter in the rough puff pastry recipe rather than butter and lard?

Hi there

I was just wondering whether anyone else has tried ziplist? its a recipe manager / shopping list internet based application. It syncs with your iphone and is free (for now anyway).  I have found it a useful way to keep track of all my internet based recipes and to do my shopping lists. It doesn't have a meal planner yet but apparently thats coming. 

anyway the point of my post is not to sound like a sales person for it but to say that I am starting to add in some of the ingredient lists from the thermo books (not the recipes just the ingredients, I hope thats allowed?) and I have made them publicly available.  So if you use ziplist already you can just search on 'thermomix' in the recipe search (as I type that 'thermomix' in at the end of each recipe title) and hopefully you can see them.  I have only done a few but will be doing more as time goes on.

I would think it would be great on your blog Jo. Great idea about the freezing. I am so not creative, hence why I come here ;-)

I never watched masterchef (yes perhaps the only person in the world not to see an episode) but I will check out the icecream.  The raw book has a chocolate avocado desert but I have not tried it yet.

I am after an oat milk recipe - if anyone has one can they pls let me know? I may try and convert Quirky Jo's fantastic rice and cashew milk recipe but not sure of the quantity of oats to use.  I can experiment but just wondering if anyone else has a recipe before I try.

I am so glad you liked it judydawn, and others too. I loved your pic, looked much better than mine, and a lot lighter too but maybe thats just the flash.  I will see if there is anything else good in the book.

sorry about that.  Its definitely half a cup.   My sons first bday today so only just saw your message.

I weighed them as I was putting them into the thermomix, ie after they were pitted and soaked.  However that still sounds a lot more than your weight so sorry if its wrong, I will check again next time.   it was a waste of time probably putting a weight on it in this case, I was just trying to do the proper thing but in this case has made it more confusing.  I think I will just change it to half a cup as the soaking needs to be done in advance anyway.

It will be interesting to see what you think.  I also mixed in some finely diced strawberries at the end, just by hand with the spatula before serving.  It makes it a bit more "adult" ;-0

I have been making this as desert lately for my kids as we are trying to reduce wheat and dairy a little (my husband and i have been eating the rest too!).  Its meant to be a yoghurt type treat.

Adapted from: Baby Greens (Lynn/Chrisemer)

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups (220g) fresh strawberries (or frozen, thawed) 
1 cup (120g) avocado ie one medium avo
1/2 cup dates pitted and soaked in 1/2 cup water for 6-8 hours (keep soak water)

Blend all ingredients - adding extra water, soak water or nut milk to thin.  I used sp 5 for 30-50 secs and didn't add any extra liquid.

You can mix through some finely diced strawberry at the end.  I just did it by hand with the spatula before serving it up.

My 3yo thought it was chocolate ;-)

thanks Thermomixer, but amazingly they tasted heaps better the next day so the disaster was averted.  There is only a couple left so I will be making another batch this weekend, and then it may be time to try something new (or maybe not  :) ...).

sounds fantastic.  It would save me having to boot up my computer when I just need to check a recipe quickly (as I don't print any out).
