Yes,  it works well in my large SC,  5 1/2 l.  Use full recipe.

The beauty of having the 2 different sized slow cookers is that for 'most' days the little one is great, and when there are more people around, the bigger one would be very good too.

Will try the bigger version in a few days when dtr and grandson are back, plus I want to give grains etc a go.  ;D

I bought the mini $20 slow cooker from Woolies last week, but have only got around to using it this morning.

I did half the "No Fuss" recipe as per Chookie's method. It looks good and I'm sure when we eat it for lunch it will taste great.

Advice please...not so successful here  :-\

I used the newwave 5 in 1, made full quantity of Vienna bread...but made it like my parmesan bread, with only 50g Parmesan in with dough & pizza topper herbs.  Sprinkled top lightly with Parmesan.

I didn't lift the lid to peek, & at 2 hrs, it was hardly risen.
I had to cook it for 3 hours to get 6cm height  ???

The inside was still not fully cooked at 3hrs. Cooking

I don't know if the slow cooker is not hot enough? (there's no option for high or low on this one),
Or the Parmesan hindered rising?
Or a combination?
I did line the sides with baking paper, is everyone else?

I was really hoping to lift the lid & find bread the height of Judy's.

Chookie may have the technical answers maddy but if you don't have a high/low option on your appliance, perhaps it is too low.  We all use high on our SCs.

My initial thoughts too Judy, that it wasn't hot enough...yeast was new & fresh bag.
....think I might pop into woolies & look at the smaller s/c....it will also be perfect for keeping a larger  amounts of gravy warm, when entertaining.

Maddy,  don't know your appliance but 3 hours would seem to be too long.  I also love the Vienna recipe but I don't think it takes added ingredients well.  I think this is because of the high ratio of yeast to flour.  It might be worth heating up your  pot and putting a thermometer in and checking the temp.

I had a play with this today and the result wasn't too bad.  I don't have a proper SC, mine is an old Sunbeam deep fryer with a SC insert and holds about 5 Lts or so.

My loaf is just a little dense but that's my fault as I misjudged the water.  When I took it out of the tmx it looked very dry and crumbly so I re read the recipe and found I hadn't put in enought water.  Back into the tmx added more water and kneaded another two mins.

I actually forgot it and it cooked for 2 1/2 hours and it wasn't over done.

DH was most impressed and insisted it was sliced so he could do a taste test.  He gave it the thumbs up.  :D
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

I had another go today, thought the small loaf would be good to serve with dinner.  Shaped into a ball and I only lined the base of the sc and sprayed the sides with oil.  Turned out the better than yesterdays.  :)

Julie , looks lovely.
Mab,  if family like it,  that all that matters.  Do have another go and see if you can improve on this one, for your sake.

Made another mini white today.  So easy,  left it to bake while I made jam.  Guess what I tested the jam on?.?
