Recipe Requests / Spinach Cob Loaf Dip
« on: February 26, 2011, 02:42:24 am »
Hi

I was hoping someone could help me out with a spinach cob loaf dip. That doesn't use frozen spinach. I have my cob loaf ready to go but have no idea what is in or how to make a spinach dip.

Thanks.

Chit Chat / Etiquette and how to switch counsultants
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:57:38 am »
It has become apparent I need to find a new consultant, I feel like I was just a sale. A demo I was meant to have tonight was cancelled and I am desperate to learn how to use my machine or sell it  :'(.

So what do you think is the right thing/proper etiquette when switching consultants?

How do I go about finding a new consultant in my area?

I feel terrible that the sale has already been made, and the commission went to someone that isn't helping me. I don't feel right about contacting another consultant and asking for some demo's when I know, no sale will come out of any of them. I doubt I'll even have friends to invite any demo's now cause I've already my demos been cancelled a few times.

What should I do?

Chit Chat / Varoma Demo tonight
« on: February 23, 2011, 11:41:57 pm »
I was wondering if anyone else has attended/hosted a Varoma demo. I'm having mine tonight, and am a bit concerned, I just got my ingredients list of things I need to buy for tonight and it doesn't seem like a Varoma demo.

Fruity Dream, Pizza, Dip, Soup, Chicken, Pumpkin and Couscous Salad, and Steamed Puddings. What do you think? Is this a varoma demo menu, or a basic demo menu?

I attended a basic cooking class on Tuesday and on the menu was: sorbet, dip, bread, scrolls, steamed pudding, salad, vegie pasta thingy and a juice. Both these menu's are very similar.

So I was wondering whats on the menu for most Varoma demo's?

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Runny Yogurt
« on: January 09, 2011, 03:27:20 am »
So I made yogurt (not the EDC version as it was runnier then this when I made it the first time) and now this one is very very runny.

Recipe was:
1 litre full cream milk
500g good quality yogurt (yes I questioned this but its right according to my consultant)

Milk into bowl 20mins/80/speed 2-3

Cool milk o 37degrees

Add yogurt 5 sec/speed 5. THEN 20mins 37/speed 2-3

Last 3 mins heat thermomserver with boiling water until hot to touch. Empty water out and add yogurt.

Keep in warm place for minimum 5-6 hours. Then in fridge for 12 hours.

I followed this recipe left it in the oven (turned off, to keep it at a constant temp) for 6 hours and it was in the fridge all day and it is mega runny.

What can I do with this? Its too expensive to throw it out as it's got over $4 worth of yogurt in it and is meant to be my starter. :'(

Bread / Bread tins, greasing?
« on: January 08, 2011, 04:35:40 am »
I was gifted these lovely preloved, well used bread tins from a baker friend of mine. I am unsure of how or what to grease them with?

What do you use to stop bread sticking?

Recipe Requests / Leftover Hard Sauce. What can I make?
« on: January 04, 2011, 12:58:47 am »
Hi

I have just less then 250ml of hard sauce left over from Christmas Day, and I was wondering if there was anything I could make with it.

It contains butter, icing sugar and vanilla essence. I was thinking a cake or something would be nice. I don't want to waste it, but don't have anymore pudding to use it on either.

Suggestions and Complaints / Help me love my new purchase
« on: January 03, 2011, 03:14:09 am »
OK so some of you might be aware I started a thread over on the new RC forums thinking about returning my TMX as it wasn't what I had expected. Just to recap I have had my TMX since the 2nd week in December. I had been lusting after one for over 2 years and finally had the cash. I and a friend couldn't organise a demo before Christmas, so I brought mine unseen but knowing my friends thought the world of theirs.

I had my delivery demo 2 days after I received it and my consultant gave me some useful tips and tricks I wouldn't have known about without the demo, but I felt like a bit of a nit and lost a lot of confidence. I have a Varoma demo booked for Feb.

So far I have made pancakes (pretty good and easy), bread rolls (DH very happy and yummy), butter (the EDC one and I watched a you tube vid and made my own, youtube one is heaps easier, less messy and yummier) egg custard (not too bad I made my own recipe and was quiet proud) muffins (these were bland and hard to get out from under the blades), Butter chicken (EDC bland and watery), tapioca porridge (yummy) and hollandaise sauce (divine but not the EDC version). Oh I also made yogurt out of the EDC book and it was watery, and the mayo from the same book split, I've never had a mayo split  :'(

I don't think my issue is converting recipes, I feel I can do that. But I would love to find recipes that I love. We are family that is healthy conscious and our youngest is dairy free, we are on a tight budget and DH is a meat and 3 veg man, I am not, I love pastas and risotto's. So maybe I need to get him to love it and find recipes that show it off at its full potential.

Thoughts are greatly appreciated!!

And thanks for being so welcoming.
