this is dumb, I know it's dumb but I'm dyslexic mathematically, seriously!!  is 2/3rds of a cup 2 x my 1/3rd cup measure??  or is it 2/3rds of my 1/3rd cup measure?

I had a small tub of cream that was past its use by LOL and because I needed more liquid than 375ml I did a fridge clean up and used the cream as well plus the last squirt out of the wine cask, in my quest to create some space in the fridge I expanded my waistline..

I'm only going on what I 'saw' not from knowledge but once I added the egg it definitely thickened considerably...

I ended up using 330 gm of tagliettali (sp?) a 375 can of carnation milk, a 300 bottle of cream, 100gm of white wine PLUS water, PLUS 2 eggs, plus the cheese and even though there was a lot of sauce, it was rich as anything, but really yum..  couldn't have a second bowl but yum.
if you don't want it rich, don't use the cream...

I am going to make this tonight... JudyDawn have you tried it yet with the evaporated milk??  I was wanting to use that too instead of cream but wondered if I would have to add cornflour?
Even with a calculator I can't work out 33% because i can't do math, can't even do 'simple' math..  and percentages are beyond me..

Chit Chat / Re: snails in my vegie garden!!

well I have it in the vegie garden that has the lettuce, tomatoes, basil and ummm, trying to think of what I planted in there yesterday...  and differently to last year in that particular patch, I don't have any flying anything's hanging around so maybe it does work...  and for a couple of bucks it's probably worth a shot..  I had that many flying insects and butterfly's around my vegies last year it became ridiculous, I tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked...  heard Jamie Oliver's (I LOVE HIM) gardener saying he gets the 'hoover' out, shakes the plants and then hoovers the fliers...lol

achookwoman, how many grams/ounces in a packet of jamsetta please??
what I bought from the health food shop was a 100g net bag of 'Lotus brand' Citrus pectin powder..
it says 2.5 to 3g of pectin should be used for every kilo of fruit, but as I'm using mint leaves not fruit AND because I'm MORE than mathematically challenged (as dumb as to be quite frank) I cannot possibly make conversions or figure it out, calculator or not...

my mum bought this thingymajig from the $2 shop and it's a solar powered butterfly that spins around and around... it's a novelty BUT also the theory is, it attracts the flying things in your garden and when they go towards it and it does nothing for them, they fly away somewhere else!!

no it doesn't seem to,
4 - 1/2 pint jars
1 1/2 cups packed fresh mint leaves and stems
 2 tablespoons lemon juice
 2 1/4 cups boiling water
 1 drop green food color
 3 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 (6 fluid ounce) container liquid pectin
it's from the Allrecipe website.

That is the ultimate revenge Gertbysea..........LOL
I will certainly try everyone's suggestions though, my garden beds will end up like a compost site full of egg shells, coffee grounds, bran and beer!!

oh absolutely could be something else, I only said snail because I was fortunate enough to spring one crawling up the side of the pot!!  I've been out in the early hours of the morning, just light, and found some slug activity so that was the main prompting for the snail bait..
I have the ashy parts of the weber to clean out, I might try that now it's been suggested...
