yep really.lol it was fine at 9 minutes and I knew i had to head to the kitchen soon so I took off in there to scrape and set for the next 40 minutes and had a pool of sauce underneath and thermie was 'covered' in it...... I've wiped and wiped and wiped and done another batch of worcestershire since and it's still sticky...

Had to twist JudyDawn I had most of the ingredients in the bowl and when I went to the cupboard for the jam I didn't have any plum!! I tossed around the idea of going up to the supermarket but refused because I knew if I went up for a $4 bottle of jam, I'd come out $100 poorer because I'd find something else I needed..

sorry to keep going but perhaps too, just 'moving' the well cooked spuds slowly and watching instead of whipping them on any kind of speed, has helped enormously too.... I don't put any kind of speed or time on, just slowly move them until they break up... I'd even be happy with a few lumpy bits rather than a whip

I just think maybe the addition of liquid for me, wasn't the way to go!! lol even at cooking classes, most of the comments I've heard as people have walked past me has been about mashed spuds being unsuccessful so I was determined to try as many ways as possible to see if it would satisfy me... my friend keeps making potato 'soup' for her mash so I told her about the no liquid method today, hopefully it works for others...

I've been disappointed with the whipped mash as I like the consistency of 'mashed' potatoes, not whipped... I experimented a couple of times and have been really pleased, finally!!
a litre of water, filling the basket with cut spuds, as many as will fit and if overflow then adding to the varoma as well... about 35 to 40 minutes, varoma temp, speed 3 to 4..... remove basket, empty water, place butterfly in, add spuds and a tablespoon or MORE of butter and on about speed 2 to 3, let rotate a 'few times', remove lid and push down with spatula, rotate a few more times, SLOWLY, speed 2 to 3....... I didn't want them mashed or liquidy, I wanted my beautiful spuds to mush up and that in the end is EXACTLY what I got..... very happy camper.......

I've made several successful batches of this FANTASTIC sauce now (several because I have it on EVERYTHING) but todays batch was with apricot jam..... I will post how it tastes while I let it 'develop' over the next week or so......

I got dumped into the dummy maths class Amy where we used calculators shaped like an owl and only did the basics!! Dad nearly tore his hair out for years and years trying to make me understand..
Creampuff, I tried to think of it logically like you have set it out and I sat and thought about it for a long time and it seemed to make sense that it was 2 x my 1/3 but then I was second guessing myself because that didn't make sense....lol
